When Liam saw Harry and Zayn together, he was reminded of how many times this had happened. How many times he had caught them close, whispering, trading looks in front of him and he hadn't seen it?

Since they were teens it had happened. Just like now: not touching, but somehow feeling each other's energy. Hovering like magnets. It was something in the eyes, in a look of complete adoration - something Zayn never showed him.

Liam marched towards the double doors of the court, with Denise's hand firmly gripped on his arm, keeping him steady and in control.

The businessman remembered the first time he noticed this closeness between his future ex-husband and his friend; They weren't together just yet, but Liam remembered it perfectly.

It was the end of another school day. They were done with their classes but waited for the other mates to play the match. The losing team had to pay lunch to the winning side at the end of the semester, so the goal was to maintain the lead and keep steady.

While they waited, Liam and Niall practised a few kicks, taking turns defending shots to keep warm. Liam was on the goal, and he stopped one of Niall's kicks easily, jumping to grab it. He grabbed the ball and walked towards Niall to switch positions.

As he walked towards Niall, who was coming his way, Liam turned to the side. He saw Louis, Harry and Zayn sitting together. Louis was smoking his last cigarette of the day and flipping through a magazine, completely in his zone before a game.

Meanwhile, next to him Zayn and Harry shared headphones listening to music - they shared a lot of music now, which was annoying. Zayn turned to Harry and sang something. Sang something so melodic and so beautiful, Liam was stunned. Harry also smiled widely and blushed at the sound of his voice. Zayn's hand went to his cheek and caressed him.

"That was nice," He read from Harry's lips.

Feeling that spark of anger, Liam arrived at his mark and placed the ball on the ground with a stomp. Niall was ready to defend, jumping from side to side. He took a few steps back, then jogged forward and kicked the ball. The ball flew right past Niall's head and slammed into the back concrete wall.

The hit was loud and echoed around the field, stunning everyone. "Liam! Jesus! Almost ripped my head off."

"Oi!" Louis yelled, with a cigarette between his lips. "Don't burst my ball, mate!"

"Sorry," Liam replied, taking a quick look at Zayn, who looked at him astonished.

He felt that anger at that same moment, but there wasn't a ball to kick or someone to scream at. The best solution was to walk past Harry, with his head high and ignore his presence. No matter how much he wanted to rip that smirk off his lips, Liam couldn't. He walked by Harry and Zayn at a safe distance, but he heard Harry call his name and Zayn beg him not to.

"Keep moving," Denise ordered, pressing her fingers to the inside of his arm.

"Liam, wait..." Hearing Harry's call, Liam came to a halt and his surprise, Harry appeared in front of him. "I want to talk to you. Tell you I feel horribly for how everything ended."

Liam gave a quick look at Zayn, who waited patiently for Harry's speech to come to a halt. "You feel horrible?"

"Yes." Harry agreed, showing sorrow in his eyes. "We went about it all wrong. It's just horrible."

"Well, I'm glad you feel horrible, Harry," Liam replied with a sigh. "Because God forbid you felt good about it."

"Liam, for God's sake..." Zayn whispered.
