Elijah and Aeliana decided later that night they would fill Elena in on Esther being back. More like Elijah decided, and he made Aeliana come along against her will.
"Eli, I hate her. She pretended to be my friend and then snapped my neck. How am I supposed to forgive that on top of everything else she's done?!" She yelled. It wasn't often they fought, but when they did it got bad.
"Ana, you need to control yourself. If my mother wants to be reunited as a family in this town, then we must learn to be civil," he began walking ahead, trying to remain calm.
"I don't even want to be in this stupid town," she mumbled.
He stopped, slowly turning to her. "Stupid?"
Rephrasing, "It's stupid now. Of course we have our places, but I don't trust anyone here one bit. And I'm sorry, I don't trust Esther either. I find it hard to believe she forgave Nik this easily. We need to leave, like we originally planned. These places will always be here, but we might not be if we choose to trust her."
"I want to at least try, Ana. Please understand that."
"I understand, Eli. I do."
He got closer, placing his hands on her face. "Please, don't leave. I can't lose you again."
"I would never leave you, Elijah. We might not always agree, but you're my husband. My best friend. If you want to stay, then we will stay."
He kissed her roughly, as if it would be the last time he could.
"I'm not going anywhere, you have my word, Elijah. I'm by your side, always and forever."
"Always and forever, my sweet."
They broke apart, tears brimming both of their eyes.
"Let's find Elena. I promise I'll be on my best behavior," she grabbed his hand and they began walking again. "However, if she tries to kill ne again, she won't live to see another second."
"That's my girl."
They found her at The Grill, but unfortunately it seemed Rebekah got to her first, leaning in to bite right into the doppelgänger. Elijah sped over and pushed his sister against the car by her throat.
"Elijah," she choked out.
"Leave," he commanded, releasing his grip as Rebekah stepped forward. "Are you challenging me?"
"You're pathetic. All of you! Especially you, Aeliana. She betrayed you too," she spat, looking at the three before disappearing.
"Well, I believe we have a little catching up to do," Elijah turned to Elena, whose eyes were only focused on Aeliana.
"Oh stop, I'm not going to hurt you. I got my husband back, I'm over it. We're here to talk." Elena still looked at the female vampire, clearly shaking. "You have my word, Elena. I will not hurt you today."
