"Kat, you called."
"Well, I didn't hear back from you yesterday, I was making sure you weren't staked by the Mystic Falls gang," Katerina spoke to Aeliana over the phone, who had the call on speaker.
"We were busy," she smirked over at her husband laying next to her.
"Okay, gross."
"So, what is it that you want us to do?" Aeliana changed the subject.
"I have the cure."
"And who did you kill to obtain this cure?" Elijah asked with an eye roll, earning a nudge from his wife.
"No one, I just got to it first."
"What exactly do you want us to do? What does this have to do with Ana and I?"
"Klaus will listen to you. I want you to speak on my behalf. He wants this cure more than anything.
"And why would we do that?" He continued to question.
"I could easily shove it down his throat and kill him. Instead, I'm offering a trade. The cure for my freedom. Not only that, but when Ana and I were trapped, she gave me her word that she'd protect me from Klaus. I'm cashing in the offer."
Elijah turned to his wife with raised brows.
"I did, I won't deny it. She was my best friend, Eli. She just wants to survive," Aeliana spoke softly.
"I want to stop, Elijah. I can't keep running. It's been 500 years, I'm exhausted. You should understand, you've done it twice as long as I have. I want to be free."
He went to respond, but Aeliana cut him off. "Are we doing this deal over the phone or would you like to meet in person?"
"I'll text you the details of where to meet with me, tomorrow at 2pm. I'll have the cure with me."
"We'll see you there, Kat." Aeliana hung up the phone and sheepishly looked over at Elijah.
"You know how she is, Ana," he started speaking.
"Look, the old Kat is in there somewhere. When we were trapped together, she wasn't Katherine, she was Katerina. She opened up her mind to me, Eli. I want to at least see for myself that she's actually being honest."
He caressed her face softly. "I just don't want you to get your hopes up, my sweet. I remember how much it hurt when she left last time."
"I gave her my word, Elijah. I need to at least try. Please."
He was silent for a moment, knowing that he has a hard time telling her no. "So when are we leaving?" He asked with a small smile.
