Back in the castle's yard was Soren, sitting on a simple brown bench with two plates that had hills of pastries, eating endlessly jelly tarts while deep in thought, frowning.
His sister approached him calmly, not without taking note of his mood. "Hey, Sor-bear. What's wrong? You look kind of down."She pouted, but then saw the sweets in his hand and smirked, ruffling his hair. "Aw, grizzly, grizzly Sor-bear!" She chuckled, while the blond only scowled.
"Did Dad say anything...strange to you?" He asked.
Her smile washed off her lips. "Yeah, he kind of did." She confirmed, not making eye contact."Did he say anything strange to you?" She looked at him with an eyebrow raised, interested.
"Uh...No. Totally not, just a standard Dad chat. What?" He chuckled nervously.
"Oh. Okay, I guess." She said, her tone lingering a bit of disappointment.
"So...What did he say to you that was so strange?" The knight questioned, popping another tart in his mouth.
"Uh, he said that walnuts are his favorite...fruit!" She made up a lie, looking at a squirrel who sat on a tree branch and was nibbling a walnut. "I mean, that's crazy, right?" She subtly laughed.
"I don't even think they're a fruit." The brother told with a hand to his chin.
"They're not!"
"Well, that is strange." He smiled, amused.
"I mean, what's his favorite vegetable, ice cream?" She laughed, snorting, not without getting followed by her older sibling.
"Anyway. Are you ready for our mission?" Claudia asked.
"Yeah. I guess I am."The blue-eyed assured, standing up and picking up one of the trays.
"Great. I'm sure you won't die."
"What?" He looked at her.
"On this mission. I mean, eventually, you will die. I assume. But who knows? Maybe you won't!" She beamed, leaving.
"Thanks, Claudia!" The male sibling grinned obviously and munched on another pastry.
More cracks. More and more. It wasn't good.
"Oh my. Ezran, whatever happens, don't move. Stay calm, and don't panic or fear. You will be safe. I am coming to get you." Adora said, hiding the trembling fear of her own in her composed and collected voice. She stepped further on the ice carefully with each step.
