Dahyun and I climbed over the fence leading into her backyard, trying our best to not be seen by any of the neighbors.

"Are any of the windows or doors unlocked?"

Dahyun nodded, leading the way to one of the last windows. "I left my window unlocked from the other night."

"Good girl." I grinned, being able to see the blush that arose to her cheeks in the dim moonlight.

I slowly pushed the window open, trying to be as quiet as possible in case someone was awake in wait.

"Now," I began, leaning in close to her to be as quiet as possible. "You're gonna have to rush, just in case."

The brunette nodded, climbing through the window frame, gently landing on her bedroom floor.

I followed her actions, entering her bedroom. Dahyun's bedroom. I'm in Dahyu-

"Chaeyoung." Dahyun whispered sharply, earning my attention. "Help me." "Right."

Dahyun pulled out a backpack and a large canvas bag, handing me the canvas bag before instructing me to pack all of her kpop albums into it.

I gave her a funny look, raising my brow, almost as if to ask 'seriously? your albums?'

"They're my pride and joy so pack them." Raising my hands in defeat, I began to pack all of her albums into the bag.

As I was aimlessly placing her albums into the cartoonishly large canvas bag, I couldn't help but look around her room.

The walls looked to be a shade of white, but it was hard to tell with our only source of light being moonlight.

One of the walls was lined with awards, trophies on shelves, and plaques from competitions.

Photos of Dahyun with Pinky and some other girl hung on another wall, almost like snapshots in time.

Is this the same girl? How can the girl who succeeds in everything want to run away? How does a good little girl like Dahyun turn into someone like me?

"Chae?" I turned towards Dahyun, noticing how she already had her backpack all packed up, it now being slung over her shoulder.

My mouth opened to respond, but what came out sounded like someone saying Dahyun's name instead.

Wait. Her mother.

"Shit." We both exclaimed, hurrying to the window.

I could hear shuffling and the sounds of lights being turned on as Dahyun practically shot out the window.

Just as I exited the building, barely landing on my feet, Dahyun's door opened, revealing her mother.

A lady dressed in a pink moo-moo, her hair up in little curlers, it made her almost look like the cartoon depiction of a mother.

We made eye contact, her eyes looking confused and afraid.

Dahyun ran up to me, it now being her turn to lock eyes with the person standing in her doorway.

"Dahyun?" Her mother choked out, grief and disbelief in her tone.

Dahyun bit her lip before slamming the window shut.

Taking my hand, we both began to run.

We need to make it over the fence before her mother realizes she could catch us.

I practically flung myself over the fence, waiting on the other side for Dahyun so that I could break her fall.

Moments later, the brunette came hurling over the six-foot-tall fence, barely landing in my embrace.

"Come on." I took her hand in mine about the same time the front door to her house flew open, her mother joined by her father this time.

"Dahyun! Don't do this to us!" She didn't respond. Just smiled as we kept running.

We ran until her neighborhood was out of sight.

Deciding to stop for a breather, I looked Dahyun up and down, wondering what changed.

When I met her, she was just some innocent little girl who everyone loved because she was reliable, she was devoted, and most importantly, she listened to her parents.

But now? I see a girl who just ran away from home, possibly ruining any reputation she had in the town.

She definitely destroyed her relationship with her parents.

Yet she doesn't seem to be upset about any of this.

"Dahyun." I called for her, her head tilting upward while her palms remained firmly against her thighs, her breathing heavy.

"Are you okay? You do know what you just did, right?"

The brunette cracked a smile before nodding her head, finally standing up straight.

"I've done everything my parents wanted my entire life. I went to the clubs they wanted, did the sports they wanted, got the job they wanted me to have, everything."

Her attention was redirected towards the moon, a soft smile remaining on her face.

"For once, I did something for me."

I couldn't take my eyes off her. She had this glow about her, almost as if running away from home freed her.

Maybe she needed this. Whether with me or not, I'm still not sure.

Dahyun's gaze lowered until she was gazing back into my eyes.

We stayed like that for god knows how long.

It wasn't until she stepped forward did we break eye contact.

"Chae?" "Yes?"

She stopped just inches from me, her cheeks tinting pink as she instructed, "Kiss me."

Placing one hand on the nape of her neck, I rested the other on her hip, pulling her closer to me.

Just as our lips were inches apart, I broke the gap, pressing my lips against hers.

There we were, standing in the middle of a street, kissing under the blue moonlight.

Nothing else in the world mattered except for this moment, right now.
