Chaeyoung won't allow me to leave The House. I'm not sure why, but she refuses to allow me outside.
I've skipped the last two days of work because of it. I had to tell Mr. Kim that I was really sick, and thankfully he bought it and allowed me a few days off to recover.
She's really starting to worry me. It's almost as if she's trying to prevent something from happening. What it is, I'm not sure. But ever since our day at the water park, she's been oddly overprotective.
Knocking softly on her day, I was greeted by the smiling blonde.
"Hi, Chae. Can we talk?" She nodded, stepping to the side. I went to sit on her bed, her mirroring my action. "What's up?"
"Is something wrong?" Chaeyoung furrowed her brows together as she responded, "No. What do you mean?"
I bit my lip, nervous to bring this up. "You've been oddly overprotective these past couple of days."
Her eyes filled with worry but her face remained blank. She's too good at hiding her emotions and I hate it. Mostly because I show every emotion at the drop of a hat.
"The other day, when we were walking back from the park, someone followed us."
Chaeyoung and I stared at each other as I processed what she said. Did someone follow us? But why?
"Nayeon is trying to figure out who and why, but so far, we have nothing. You and I aren't members so it doesn't make a whole of sense."
I thought for a moment, wondering why someone would follow us. I don't get it. I'm just a girl who works at a convenience store, I don't bother anyone.
"Dahyun," The blonde began, gaining my attention. "We are going to do everything we can to protect you. But that's why I've kept you inside The House. Just until we figure out what's going on."
I smiled gently, "Okay. Thank you for being honest with me."
Chaeyoung mirrored my smile, taking my hand in hers. "I was thinking that maybe as soon as we figured this all out, you and I could go on our first official date."
My cheeks flushed pink at her request. A date?
"I'd like that." Her smile grew as her eyes glistened with adoration.
Chaeyoung's door opened, Nayeon and Sana walking inside.
"Oh, shit, sorry guys. Were we interrupting something?" Sana questioned, her cheeks tinted pink out of embarrassment.
"No, we were just talking. What's up?"
Nayeon glanced between Chaeyoung and I, hesitant to say anything.
Chae sighed softly, "I told her."
The leader only nodded, seeming slightly relieved as she could speak freely now.
"We think we know who it is. We just don't know the why yet."
I tensed up, almost scared to know the answer. I'm so new to this world so this is borderline terrifying.
Chaeyoung began to rub the back of my hand with her thumb, trying her best to calm me down as she questioned, "Who do you think it is?"
"Well, Jeongyeon caught word that there's a mafia group from Japan in town."
My mind immediately went to Pinky. Maybe she could see what mafia group came over. She's always so good at talking to people.
"But why would a mafia group from Japan be following nongang members?" Chaeyoung questioned, seeming very confused.
"We're still trying to figure that part out. We're hoping that if we find out which mafia group it is, that maybe we'll find out the why as well."
The blonde nodded, glancing over towards me. "Are you okay?"
I nodded softly, smiling at how caring she is. "I'm okay."
"We'll keep you guys updated. But," Sana began, a stern and serious look on her face. "If you guys leave The House, one of the members will be right behind you. Just in case."
I slowly raised my hand, Nayeon smiling gently as she nodded toward me. "Yes, Dahyun?"
"I have to go back to work tomorrow, what will I do?"
The two girls looked at each other, almost as if they were talking telepathically before turning back to Chaeyoung and I.
"Momo will go with you."
Chaeyoung groaned, "Momo? Can't Jihyo?"
Nayeon crossed her arms, "What's wrong with Momo all of a sudden?"
"She likes Dahyun." Chaeyoung stated matter-of-factly.
"Someone's jealous." Sana teased, a wide smile on her face, Nayeon soon wearing the same smile.
Chaeyoung huffed, "I am not. I just don't want Momo thinking she can try anything."
"Momo is a professional. Plus, she saw you ask her out the other day. She knows to not step on your toes."
The blonde just hung her head, defeated.
"It'll be okay, Chae. Momo is scary as hell, I don't think anyone will try anything with her there."
"See? Your girlfriend gets it." Nayeon teased before walking out the door, giving me one last smile before she left.
Sana smiled at the both of us before following the leader out, closing the door behind her.
"Chae, it'll be okay. I promise. I'll call you if anything happens."
She nodded, giving me a smile of reassurance.
"Do you want to go watch a movie with me? I don't think anyone is using the tv right now."
I gasped, "Only if we can make popcorn."
The blonde nodded once again, "Deal."
