_______Oomisaki High won their first match. They lost their second match to Aoba Johsai High. The score was 2:0 / 25-14, 25-12. Your team quickly took the first set and followed through to the second set with the same energy. You couldn't be happier at their victory. You couldn't stop smiling as you watched the team huddle together and cheer at their success.
You stood by Coach Mizoguchi as the two of you watched Coach Irihata give the team a few words of advice on their performance, but an overall congratulations on their first win of the season. A sense of pride was all you could feel. You were sure there would be many more wins to come.
Hanamaki came walking up to you after the team meeting. He had his hands inside his shorts while he walked over. "Did you see my feint? I surprised their number 2." He smiled at you. He looked exhausted and definitely needed some water. He was doing much more work since Shido took Kunimi's place.
You handed Hanamaki a water bottle, "Yes, I could see his shocked expression from the bench." He grabbed the water bottle and started to drink from it. Matsukawa walked over to you and sat down beside you letting out a loud sigh. You also handed him a water bottle, and he gladly took it.
You had to admit, you loved watching Seijoh play. There was something about that pulled you in. They had your full attention the whole time, and you can't help but smile. It was a nice feeling.
The next thing you knew, the team was on the buses going back to the Miyagi Prefecture. When you would get back to the school, it was optional to head back to class. There would only be two hours left, but it was enough time to learn something.
You sat with your brother, Hajime, rather than Hanamaki on the ride home. Most of the boys were up, which you were surprised about. They seem exhausted, but they were all talking loudly about the next matches for tomorrow.
Hajime was reading a manga beside you. You found out a month ago that he had quite a collection in his room. You had no idea how he could afford so many, but Hajime always picked up random jobs to pay for things he wanted.
Coach Irihata came in front of the bus. Both of the coaches split up because they said they needed to watch over both of the buses. He cleared his throat, and everybody grew quiet.
"When we get back, the Missing Persons Unit will be doing an interview with each of you regarding Kunimi Akira."
_______
The investigators were doing interviews in the open meeting rooms that the school had. The open meeting rooms were located in the front of the building but were only used for the staff. None of the students were allowed in usually, but this day was an exception. Everybody was split into five lines at random. Apparently, throughout the day they were interviewing anybody who had any connection to the boy.
You were placed in line two with Matsukawa, Kindaichi, and a few other boys on the volleyball team. You were right behind Matsukawa, and he was awaiting his turn. The investigators had instructed everybody to be silent. They didn't want any information to be changed due to speaking to each other. Information could be changed due to the slightest lie.
All you could do was stare at the white door in front of you. Matsukawa disappeared into the room when a second-year boy came out. You were next in line, and you felt like you were going to puke at any moment. They were going to catch you. You were the cause of Kunimi's disappearance.
You shifted your feet and tried to focus on your breathing. You didn't want to be sent to jail or punished. You didn't know he had a girlfriend. You didn't want him to run away. You knew it was your fault, but you didn't mean it. You couldn't go to jail. You wouldn't survive behind bars.
