we do terrible things for the people we love
_____

Saturday night was a whirlwind of emotions for everybody. Hanamaki told the group that he checked Kunimi's sister's social media accounts. It was post after post about Kunimi—asking if anybody had seen him or knew where his whereabouts were. You felt sick to your stomach.

Matsukawa suggested that you guys join a search party for him after the Interhighs. Kunimi's sister was hosting them until he was found. He apparently went missing around Tuesday night to Wednesday morning due to him suddenly going silent on her during that time period. The police don't seem to be helping much since they believed that he will be coming home once he runs out of money.

The night was sickening. You were a jumble of emotions. Did he run away due to being caught cheating with you? Were you the cause of this boy's disappearance? You kept quiet. You didn't know if the group of boys knew about the cheating scandal involving you. You hoped Oikawa hadn't said anything to them, since none of the boys ever mentioned anything about it to you.

You noticed how Oikawa was unnaturally quiet the whole time. He seemed to be lost in thought throughout the whole night. He barely spoke a word. Even on Sunday morning when everybody was leaving, he kept quiet.

It worried you.

Sunday was also a time filled with uncertainty. You kept mostly in your room. The boys skipped Saturday's practices with you since they wanted to make sure you were okay. Hajime said you didn't have to show up on Sundays either, since it was supposed to be relaxing and mostly team bonding.

You kept finding yourself staring at your last message to Kunimi. He never opened it. You felt guilty. You couldn't help but blame yourself for his disappearance. You didn't want to think about what happened at the party either. Matsukawa told you that nobody at the party knew what happened, but Shido kicked everybody an hour after everybody went to your house. You were glad that nobody knew, but you were uncertain how you should feel about what happened.

You were drugged. The blonde guy could have raped you if Oikawa didn't get to you in time. You were forever grateful for him. You didn't want to think anymore. The rest of the day was you doing meaningless tasks around the house, while your father and Hajime were out.

Tomorrow was the Interhigh. You would be waking up early, and heading to school - two hours before it started.

You were just so fucking tired.

_____

Monday morning you woke up an hour earlier than you usually did. You felt sluggish throughout your whole routine. You just wanted to hop back into bed and get more sleep, but Hanamaki was apparently picking up everybody. It was a tradition that they would take Hanamaki's car to the school for luck.

Apparently, the car had enough room for everybody. Thankfully.

Hajime and you stood outside of your house waiting for Hanamaki. The sun had started to rise due to the warmer season that was coming. You remembered how it would be pitch black during this time.

A silver Honda Odyssey pulled into your driveway. You held back a laugh because you never expected Hanamaki to drive a minivan in your whole life. The front seat was apparently reserved for Matsukawa, so you had to squish yourself once again into the middle of the second row of seats. Oikawa was towards your right, while Hajime was to your left. You wanted to sit in the third row, but it was filled with volleyball bags.

"Next stop, Matsukawa's!" Hanamaki shouted, making you cringe. Even though it's been an hour, you were still waking up. Hajime kicked the back of Hanamaki's seat, making the pink-haired boy stop shouting. Hanamaki must be a morning person, but everybody else was still struggling due to waking up earlier than they had to.
