Damaged people are dangerous
______You stared at Hajime, not knowing what to say. He looked tired - exhausted really. His olive green eyes narrowed at you when you didn't respond right away. Your brother moved his hands through his brown hair, trying to fix the mess.
"I let him in, but he didn't tell me why he was here." You answered with a half-truth. You did let him in, and you did know why he was here. He was here to see you. Was this worth lying to your brother about his best friend confessing his feelings to you? Was any of it worth it?
Oikawa made his way down the house's stairs, with an Aoba Johsai sweatshirt in his hand. The teal material stood out in the dimly lit room. He told your brother goodnight while giving you a glare when Hajime looked down at his phone for the time. You didn't glare back since he had already made his way to the front door - leaving Hajime and you alone once again with a loud slam of the door.
"I would appreciate it if you didn't start arguments with my friends. Oikawa going through a difficult time." Hajime mumbled the last sentence, but you caught it. You didn't like how he was siding with his childhood friend over his own sister.
"We are all going through a difficult time." You complained. "He shouldn't have even started arguing with me." You let out a huff of air, as you wrapped your arms around your stomach. The air conditioning in the house was making you feel cold even with the adrenaline going through your body from the argument that happened a few minutes ago.
Hajime just let out a groan from annoyance. "I know Y/N, but Oikawa doesn't handle stress well. I don't even know what you two were arguing about nor do I want to know, but just stop hanging around him if you can't be mature." Your mouth from into a tight line after what your brother said, and you watched him make his way back up the stairs leaving you alone in the kitchen.
Mature.
If Hajime doesn't see how mature you really are then you would show him how immature you were about to me. Of course, he wouldn't know since it doesn't affect him at all, but it will affect Oikawa.
Your phone was still open on Ui Saku's text messages.
_____
The next morning, Hajime seemed to be in a sour mood. He was very short with his replies to you, but you knew he wasn't mad at you. He went out of his way to make you a bowl of fresh-cut fruit for breakfast. You pick through the fruit the whole time while watching him get his volleyball bag ready for morning practice.
You wondered if the coaches would be pleased with your research. It did take some time and way more effort than you thought. The binder filled with pages of notes sat beside you on the kitchen table. You hoped it would help everybody on the team to make a strategy against the powerhouse of the team.
"Come on," Hajime called when he was opening the door to the garage. You quickly finished the fruit and grabbed the binder filled with notes. You straightened your tracksuit since it was all twisted up from sitting in an odd position.
Hajime was in the car already - the garage door was opening up. You ran around to open the car door to let yourself in. The heat outside was unbearable. The car was cool since it has been sheltered away from the rising sun. The whole ride to the school was filled with Hajime's playlist filled with different types of rap music. You grew a fondness for the genre since it was the only thing Hajime played.
The parking lot was filled with cars. Even though school was canceled, clubs were beginning to open up, but mainly sports. Basketball and soccer practices were now open, and you assume more would open up on the weekend. Academic clubs would open when school began again which was this Monday.
