Cassidy sat in the living room going through her emails. She'd been sent so many book reviews by her publisher. She didn't expect things to be like this or make such a good profit.
Meanwhile, Dave's phone started ringing he was going to answer, until he saw it was his mom and things were still heated between them all. Dave left it until it was Kayla calling him.
"Wassup?...you for real?...when?...shit aight bye." was all he said before hanging up.
"What's going on?" Cassidy asked as she quickly made her way over.
"They found Chelsea dead." he said before going back to stirring the pasta.
"What?! She was in rehab, what the hell happened?" Cassidy asked, wondering how it was possible when she was in secure unit. Most importantly she was shocked by Dave's nonchalant behaviour towards it.
"Found her blacked out on the side of the road, she overdosed." he said not caring enough to stop cooking.
Cassidy knew he was going to continue to 'not care' but it was going to hit him regardless. But at the end of the day she was his sister. Since he was going to play macho, her main concern was telling Cameron.
"Are you going to tell Cam or shall I?" she sighed not liking the idea of breaking the news.
"Tell me what?" Cameron said as he made his way downstairs.
Cassidy huffed running her hands down her face. Dave motioned for Cameron to sit down, so he walked over and sat down.
"They found Chelsea dead, she was on the side of the road and she'd overdosed." Dave said as if it was nothing major.
"Jesus fucking Christ." Cassidy mumbled trying to refrain from slapping Dave across the face.
"When?" was all Cameron could say.
"Early this morning." Dave replied.
Cameron looked at Dave before going upstairs. "You're a fucking asshole you know that?!" Cassidy flipped ad soon as Cameron was out of sight.
"What?" Dave asked being oblivious to what the problem was.
"You just told him his mom died and that's how you tell him? Are you serious?" she questioned, growing annoyed as his attitude.
Cassidy went upstairs to Cameron's room, he just sat there looking at the wall.
"I'm fine." he assured as he looked over at her.
"He shouldn't have told you like that. You okay?"
"You think this our fault? Christmas I mean?"
"Things didn't go well at Christmas but we've all tried to help her." Cassidy said walking over and sitting beside him.
"I was stupid for thinking she'd clean up for me." he sighed disappointedly, in the back of his mind Cameron thought she could really do it.
"Addiction is something we won't understand baby. But she was fighting a battle, but she couldn't anymore okay? It had nothing to do any of us, or how she felt about us. Yes she struggled with it for a long time but that doesn't mean she didn't love you, she was your mom."
Cameron couldn't say anything, he rested his head on Cassidy's shoulder not wanting to think anymore about the situation.
