**Flashback***

Neveah colored in her coloring book as her parents went back and forth once again for the 5th time this week. Neveah didn't know why they were arguing because her mom would come in her room with a coloring book and headphones so she wouldn't hear them yelling. Her door opened and her mama walked in.

"Veah baby," her mom Serenity spoke as she shook Neveah gaining her attention.

Neveah looked up at her mama and smiled she took the headphones off.

"Hey mommy."

"Hey sweetie."

"What's wrong mommy?"

Serenity cleared her throat.

"Mommy has to go but I promise that I'll be back for you and that Ima fight for you."

"Why can't I go with you?"

Serenity sighed as she held back tears.

"As much as I want you to baby you can't but don't forget that mommy loves you no matter what okay."

"Okay mommy."

Serenity hugged Neveah tight and gave her a kiss on the forehead and Serenity placed the headphones back on the Neveah head so she wouldn't hear the police sirens. Serenity wiped her eyes again as she walked out of her daughter room for the last time.

"Corey take care of her please?"

"You know I will thank you for doing this for me."

"Whatever."

Earlier that day Corey had robbed an elderly couple at gunpoint he wore a mask and the couple couldn't make out who he was, so Corey had called the police right as Serenity was pulling up to let them know that his wife was the one that robbed the elderly couple around the block at gunpoint. Once Serenity came in Corey told her what he did and then told her that if she didn't take the fall for him that he would kill Neveah not wanting her child to die after arguing with Corey Serenity gave in to protect her child. Little did she know that exact same night she left that Serenity life would turn upside down.

Later that night

Corey stumbled inside of Neveah's room seeing her holding the bear her mama got her last year for Christmas he smiled then he pulled her covers back which startled Neveah.

"Don't move or make a sound or I'll kill you," he spoke.

Neveah nodded in fear as she watched her father the man that was supposed to protect and love her feel on her private area.

This went on until Neveah turned 16. On her 16th birthday after celebrating with friends and family Neveah and Corey was back home Neveah was in her room taking a shower and Corey was downstairs like always drinking his life away.

Neveah done tried locking her door and even hiding from Corey but he picks her lock and finds her every time.

Neveah got out the shower and immediately dried off and put on her night clothes which was pajama pants and a sweater to match.

She walked out of the bathroom seeing Corey sitting on her bed.

"What are you doing in my room?"
