We sat there in silence. Under the tree, his head resting in my lap. As I played with his hair I hummed a soft melody. Closing my eyes, enjoying the moment.
We didn't usually get a lot of time together, y'know him being the green ninja and all. But I loved the time we did get together. I smiled.
"So how's being a ninja," I said breaking the silence, my eyes still closed
"Stressful," he sighed
"You're doing a good job, you know that right?"
"Yeah, but sometimes I wish I could do more,"
"What do you mean?"
"I want to help more people, I feel so weak when someone gets hurt or...worse,"
"It's not your fault love,"
"It is, I'm the destined green ninja. I can't even protect the innocent how am I ever going to face my dad..it isn't easy"
"No one said it would be. But that's the thing about you isn't it?"
"Huh?"
I caressed his face with my hands. Rubbing soothing circles into his cheeks.
"Lloyd you never give up, no matter what. You can't be held accountable for everyone's life's. Just remember your doing your part to protect the city, and the ninja always will have your back. It's the Evil that's at fault. We're just kids.."
"I guess I've forgotten what it's like to feel young," he sighed
I opened my eyes to look at him. Placing a gentle kiss on his forehead, he opened his eyes too. My hands still caressing his face.
"Lloyd love, you've had to grow up way to fast," I said, he stared back at me with emotion filled eyes
Then he smiled softly and said..
"I guess that's just my destiny,"
