Mornings were peaceful. Barely awake. Feeling the warmth of Kai radiating off the back of me. In the cold of winter. Cozy laying in bed, eyes closed. Not a single thought crossing my mind. Just comfort.
He played with my hair as I laid, snug in the blankets, snug next to him. He kept me warm. He kept me safe. I love him.
He twisted my hair in between his fingers, it was soothing. I begun to stir. Opening my eyes, beginning to move around. Looking around. About to sit up.
"Shhh, stop fussing I'm just braiding your hair," his soft voice spoke
I smile and stop moving. He weaved my hair in and out, I could feel the movement. He stopped, finished?
I turn to face him, my love. Our eyes locked in an ever loving stare. He moved closer, so did I. Out foreheads touching. His body keeping me warm, a arm wraps around my waist. I close my eyes once again, enjoying the moment before we had to get up and begin our work. Kai held me tight, keeping me safe. I felt secure. We smiled back at each other.
Kai giving me a soft kiss on my forehead, then on the bridge of my nose. I scrunched it up. My cheeks turning pink.
After a few more moments, Laying there in Kai's embrace. He got up. Yawning and stretching. I did the same. A wide smile present on my face.
"I love you," he whispered
"I love you too,"
