Chapter 19: Hitting Oberyn for the first time

[Lancel POV]

 As I leave the room, a maid greets me and immediately goes in search of Oberyn. After a while I see Oberyn coming with Princess Rhaenys

 Oberyn "You came back" he says with a smile

 Lancel "That's right, this time I'm more prepared" I tell him with a kind smile

 Rhaenys "Good morning" she says shyly

 Lancel "Good ones" I tell him with a simple greeting

 Rhaenys "We play chess?" she asks me with an innocent smile

 Oberyn "Why did you teach him to play chess?" he asks me with a melancholy look

 Lancel "For a fool" I tell him remembering my defeats

 Lancel "After the training with the Prince Oberyn we played 10 rounds Princess" I tell him a limit of rounds to avoid complaining

 Rhaenys "Promise" says with a cheerful smile

 At the training ground, after a beating in the morning. We take a break for lunch.

 Rhaenys "Why do you attack head-on?" she ask me after lunch

 Lancel "Because I am a warrior with honor, I don't like to attack from behind" I reply

 Rhaenys "In life and death struggles, is there honor?" she asks me

Lancel "Good point" I tell her, remembering that in SWAT missions, no matter what enemy we encounter, we must accomplish the mission in any way

 Lancel "Thank you for reminding me of something Princess" I say with a smile

 Rhaenys "Fine" she says with looking away

 
[third person POV]

 Oberyn "Ready, let's continue" says to Lancel, after the lunch break

 Lancel begins by attacking Oberyn with a thrust and moving around him, while maintaining a distance where he can dodge an attack from Oberyn.

 Oberyn looks at him strangely at the change in style he is showing in combat, and remember that he also attacked his master head-on during his training, and then changed his way of attacking to how Lancel was doing right now, looking for opportunities.

 Oberyn moves as well, making it difficult for Lancel to hit a steady target, so he sweeps Oberyn's legs. Which Oberyn avoids by jumping vertically and launching a spear thrust with his left hand at Lancel's head. Lancel dodges by moving his head to his right, Oberyn uses the strength in his right arm and pushes his left arm to rotate the spear towards Lancel's face.

 Lancel dodges by leaning his body back, then places the spear on the ground and with the force of both hands generates a rotation to his left away from Oberyn. Oberyn is surprised by the whole process in handling Lancel's body, as he attacked with his best speed, and still managed to escape the attack.

 Lancel 'It seems that the fighting instinct is working when I fight in a way where I don't focus on what the opponent does, but what I want to do, whether it's defending or attacking'

 Oberyn becomes excited, and launches into the attack with a thrust to Lancel's abdomen, Lancel responds by attacking the tip of Oberyn's spear and taking 4 steps back from the force of the impact. Lancel approaches Oberyn, lunging at Oberyn's right leg. Oberyn puts his spear in front of him, blocking the attack, moves to the right and does a spear sweep to Lancel's legs.

 Lancel jumps to his left and sends his spear into Oberyn's chest. Oberyn does the same after the feint. And it was not expected that they both hit each other in the chest with the wooden spears

 With both on the ground, one on his knees and the other writhing in pain, this confrontation ended in a draw.

 
[Lancel POV]

I´m Lying on the ground, I am feeling a great pain in my chest, because I did not expect this. The instinct in my body warned me to dodge, but I could not react

 Oberyn "You've improved" he says standing up and rubbing his chest, then he walks over and gives me his hand to help me to my feet.

 Lancel "I'm glad. That way you won't hit me as much as before" I tell him laughing out loud.

 Oberyn "You still need a few beatings" he says laughing too, while the Princess approaches us worried

 Rhaenys "Are you okay?" she asks us looking more at me than at Oberyn

 Oberyn "If you ask for both of us, you should show concern for me as well" says to the Princess

 Rhaenys "You got up first uncle" she says with a red face, then continues "let's play"

 Lancel "Let's go" I tell him with a sad smile

 Oberyn "I'll let you guys play, I have something to do right now" he says, then leaves without waiting for us to say anything else

 Lancel 'Flee, flee, I have no escape (p_q)'

 After ten rounds of chess, I feel one step closer to madness, as the last three rounds it only took 17 moves for me to lose miserably.

 Lancel "I'll teach you to play another game" I tell her hoping she'll say yes

 Rhaenys "Okay" says happily, while I celebrate this in my mind

 Lancel "The game is called rock, paper or scissors" I tell him, since this is a game of chance, there are more chances that I will win, then I explain what it is about

 After 10 rounds, I end up winning 7 out of 10, so I tell her let's play another 10 rounds. In the next 10 rounds, the Princess wins 4 times and I win 6 times.

 Rhaenys "You've been winning two games in a row" she says angrily

 Lancel "You have to know how to lose" I tell her while I think 'unless the loser is me'

 In the third game, the Princess shows only stone, and ends up winning 5 out of 10, then she is happy that this time We draw, while I am taken aback by the use she shows of her intelligence

 In the fourth game, she draws scissors three times in a row, and I show two stones and paper once. In the next she takes out paper three times in a row and I two stones and a scissors; I keep thinking that there is a possibility that she will show stone three times. So it occurs to me to take out two paper and one stone, instead she takes out a scissor, a paper and a stone. So there is one turn left as I finish with stone the last round I decide to show paper, but I do not imagined that she would show scissor winning the game with 5 wins, two draws and three losses

Then I think that she will be a good war strategist, since I like to compete legally with the Princess, I do not use the spiritual sense to see what she is going to get, that way it makes a game of chance more exciting, imagining what possibilities she has to get a stone, paper or scissors with whom you play
