We had been dating for two months, and our love was still intense. While some might label it as the honeymoon phase, I don't buy into that concept. People often use it as an excuse to explain a couple's continued happiness, but I believe it persists beyond the initial stages. Even after a year together, if a couple remains joyous and wouldn't trade each other for the world, people still slap on the "honeymoon phase" label. When does this so-called honeymoon phase ever end, I wonder? Perhaps only when the couple breaks up.

It happened on a Saturday. Sandiso, the man I loved, and I were in town, and it was my turn to treat. We found ourselves at Wimpy.

"I can't let you pay, babe," he insisted.

"Sandiso Langa," I responded.

"Yeah," he acknowledged.

"I'm paying, like it or not. I decided we go out now, please let me do this. You've done a lot already," I insisted.

"That's because it's my job as your boyfriend," he argued.

"No, it's not," I countered.

"I'm a man. What are people going to say when my girlfriend pays the bill? Ha.a Muhle," he teased.

"We'll see about that," I replied.

He could be stubborn when he wanted, for no apparent reason. The bill arrived when I was in the restroom. Upon my return, he was already punching in his pin.

"Seriously!" I exclaimed.

"I told you. Thank you, miss," he said, flashing a smile at the waitress, who blushed.

"Fine, let's go," I sighed.

"And your shake?" he asked.

"I don't want it," I declared.

"Are you seriously mad because I paid the bill?" he questioned.

"What do you think?" I retorted.

"I think you're super sexy when you're pouting," he complimented.

"Mxm," I scoffed.

"Yheeyi, a smile," he teased.

"Lies. Come, let's go," I said, taking his hand and leading the way to Trueworths Men. There was this watch I'd had my eye on for what felt like forever.

"What are we doing here?" he asked.

"You'll see," I replied.

"Okay," he agreed.

While he browsed, I grabbed the watch and proceeded to pay for it. The cashier, a guy, commented, "You're beautiful."

"Thank you," I replied.

"Is this for your dad?" he asked.

"No, it's for my boyfriend," I stated, and his expression changed.

He looked at me with a playful glint in his eyes, "Can I also be your boyfriend?"

I chuckled, "No thanks, the one I have is more than enough. But thanks for the offer."

"Ouch! That will be R550," he teased.

I handed him my card, punched in my pin, and handed back the speedpoint. "I hope he knows how lucky he is," he remarked.

"I'm sure he does," I replied, taking back my card and placing it in my wallet.

"Bye, Miss," he said.

"Bye," I waved, heading off to find Bae.

I found him talking to a girl in bum shorts who exuded a "kool kidz" vibe.
