That one week I spent over at Dad's was incredibly fun. We made so many memories and took too many pictures to count, each one a snapshot of a moment that would last a lifetime. During that time, I got to know my father on a deeper level, and I realized he was actually a great guy with a good heart.

I also had the chance to meet his new girlfriend, and she seemed like a sweetheart. I genuinely liked her; she appeared to be good for Dad, and it was evident that she wasn't after his money because she had her own. She was a psychologist, which explained a lot. Her independence, intelligence, and beauty captivated me, reminding me somewhat of Bomi, my mom. Seeing her made me miss Mom even more.

I shared everything about Dad's girlfriend with Bomi, and to my relief, she didn't seem to mind at all. In fact, she was happy for Dad and even complimented his taste in women. It was reassuring to see Bomi's support and understanding in this new chapter of Dad's life.

It was finally time for me to join the girls in Durban, and I was thrilled. Alu had decided to come along, planning to surprise his girlfriend, which I found incredibly endearing. He was putting in a lot of effort, and I couldn't help but feel impressed and proud of him. It made me wish my own boyfriend would do something like that for me. Don't get me wrong, I knew he would if he could, but family always came first, and he needed to be with his own family in Johannesburg. After all, JHB was just too far away.

We embarked on our journey, first driving to Mthatha, where Alu's girlfriend resided. The following day, we continued our trip to Durban. Alu had arranged a flat swap with one of his friends from college for the festive season. While we headed to Durban, his friend went to PE. Turns out, this friend owned a beautiful two-bedroom flat in La Lucia.

We arrived in Durban around 6 pm and headed straight to the place where Alu would be staying. Let me tell you, it was nothing short of breathtaking. The flat was like a slice of heaven, and I couldn't wait to spend some time there.

"What does your friend do again?" I asked, breaking the silence that hung between us.

"He's a programmer," he replied, not looking up from folding his clothes.

"Is he single, maybe?" I prodded, a mischievous grin playing on my lips.

"He is old, and you have a boyfriend," he retorted with a chuckle.

"Oh, come on, bhuti," I insisted, trying to lighten the mood.

"Hayi, Amahle tshi," he replied, shaking his head.

"You can't take a joke, kanene," I teased, pouting slightly.

"MXM," he muttered, rolling his eyes. "He and Nathi dated back in high school."

"How did Nathi let him go?" I asked, genuinely curious.

"They went to different varsities," he explained.

"So technically, they are still dating?" I pressed further.

"You can put it like that," he conceded with a shrug.

"Interesting," I mused, letting the conversation drop.

"What is?" he inquired, sensing my contemplation.

"Nothing. Settle in and let's go already," I replied, gesturing towards the door.

He nodded, heading to the other room to grab his remaining belongings. After about thirty minutes, he returned, dressed and ready to leave.

"You took a shower?" I asked, noticing his refreshed appearance.

"I had to freshen up tshi. My girlfriend can't see me looking all tired and sweaty," he explained with a grin.
