Tw: mentions of suicide

"For what?" Fang asked.

Izzy shrugged. "I don't know. He hasn't told me his plan yet."

Ivan sighed. "More rum, then. Yes, Boss."

Ivan and Fang stood by the mast, both staring at Izzy. Things on the Revenge had been tense. Izzy had evidently decided that the wound on Ivan's chest from Blackbeard carving a bit of his shirt off was enough of a punishment for allowing Jim to escape.

Fang was still avoiding whatever sick thing Izzy would think up to punish him with.

"Can it be cheap?" Ivan asked.

Izzy frowned, crossing his arms. "I'll go check."

Izzy went to the door of the captain's quarters. He knocked and then waited a moment before opening the door. Blackbeard sat on the desk in the center of the room, a small blade in his hands. Izzy frowned deeply as he stepped into the dim room.

Blackbeard held an ornate straight razor in his hands. It had been Stede's. They'd missed it when they were throwing his stuff off the ship. He'd found it under the bed because it'd been tossed out of the desk drawer.

Blackbeard's eyes were locked on his own reflection. He considered bringing the razor to his throat. He almost did, to be honest. Izzy caught his wrist as it began to move.

Blackbeard's dark eyes flicked up to Izzy. "Let go of me."

"Can I see that real quick?" Izzy asked, surprisingly gentle.

Blackbeard narrowed his eyes, reluctantly letting Izzy coax the blade away from him. Izzy strode to the doorway and threw the open blade as far as he could. He heard it hit the water with a plop. Blackbeard rolled his eyes.

"You know I have a dagger too, right?" Blackbeard snapped.

"I'm not going to just let you slit your throat. That's a coward's way out," Izzy snapped.

Blackbeard raised a brow. "Are you disobeying me?"

Izzy smirked. "Ivan asked if the rum you wanted could be cheap. We could get a lot more that way."

Blackbeard's face twisted into a grin. "That's fine."

"What's it for?" Izzy replied, sighing.

"We get more rum; twice the amount than we'd need to drink. We pour it all over that little island we visited. St. Augustine. Jim's... home."

Izzy's eyes lit up. "And we burn it?"

Blackbeard grinned wildly. "We burn it."

Izzy shivered with anticipation. "Brilliant. I'll go tell Ivan."

Blackbeard turned away, his dark eyes blank. Izzy limped out of the quarters and Blackbeard could hear him shouting from outside.

After a few minutes, Izzy returned and opened the door. Blackbeard stood, swaying slightly, dark eyes locked onto Izzy.

"We should hit St. Augustine by nightfall," Izzy said quietly.

"Good," Blackbeard replied.

Izzy didn't move. "I'm... I'm glad you're back, Captain."

Blackbeard narrowed his eyes. He stepped closer to Izzy and growled, "You shouldn't be."

Izzy stared at him without wavering. "You're taking the news of Bonnet's death fairly well. I'm impressed."

Blackbeard surged forward, grabbing him by the throat and putting a foot behind his knee. He pulled his foot forward and sent Izzy onto his knees.

"Don't ever say his name again," Blackbeard hissed, holding Izzy up by the throat.
