IVE PUBLISHED THIS BEFORE RIGHT? I THINK THIS GODFORSAKEN APP IS GASLIGHTING ME

Ed still sat on the barrel he'd stolen from Lucius. Stede reluctantly moved closer.

"Although..." Ed began thoughtfully. "I do feel bad for whoever was cursed to look just like me. They're going to do terrible things to his body."

Stede's eyes widened and he went pale. Lucius turned to look at Ed. Ed held onto the barrel as Lucius stood up from against it.

His distracted smile faded slightly. "That's true. Not our problem!"

Stede grimaced slightly. "I hadn't really thought about that."

"If it makes you feel better, they would've done it to me alive if they'd caught me," Ed replied.

Stede sighed, crossing his arms. "That's true."

"So what's the plan for the future?" Lucius asked.

Stede glanced at Ed. Ed shrugged.

"We should probably make a new flag," Ed said. "We should try and separate ourselves from Blackbeard as much as possible."

Jim sauntered over, a rum bottle in their hand. "Good idea."

"You know, you really did almost kill me there," Ed said.

Jim grinned. "I considered it. But then I considered the fact that Stede would be pissed. And Olu, too."

"Well, I'm grateful that you didn't kill me," Ed replied.

Jim held the rum bottle out to Ed. Ed took it and took a long swig. He grinned.

"Here's the money I owe you, Lucius," Jim said, tossing a few coins.

Stede turned, obviously dismayed, to watch Lucius catch a few coins that Jim had thrown.

"Who all knew about this bet?" Stede asked, looking around.

Jim pursed their lips, looking at Lucius with wide eyes. "You told him?"

"Pete did," Lucius replied.

Jim shrugged at Stede and hummed quietly. "Oh... you know... some people. Not a lot. Definitely not everyone."

Wee John came up from downstairs. Jim tossed a coin to John. Stede scowled and looked over at Ed.

"Why aren't you affected by this?" Stede asked.

Ed sloely raised his head. "Do you want me to be?" Ed asked, glancing at the wound under his robe again.

Stede thought for a moment and shrugged a little. "Maybe. I don't know."

"Well, I just got stabbed. I have other things to care about, like not dying," Ed said, frowning slightly as he let the edge of his robe fall back down.

Stede hummed and pursed his lips again. "Oh. Keep focusing on that, probably."

Ed sighed. "Alright, guys. Wrap it up. Get back to... whatever you do. No talking about the Captain and I."

Lucius gave Ed a little smirk. "It was just Wee John and I on Stede's side."

"I was so confident about it, too," Jim said.

"I'm going to go bring us dinner," Stede said desperately.

Jim chuckled softly as Stede strode away. "Stede fucking Bonnet."

They turned to face Ed.

Ed grinned. "What can I say? It's nice to not really have control."

Lucius rolled his eyes. "Oh, please. You like to be praised."
