The first day of this trip had been all about getting to know All Saints Island. They'd landed on this shitty place well after lunchtime, had half an hour to find their rooms and rest for two seconds, then went shopping until night had fallen. One whole day, spent on fucking nothing.
And what were they doing now? Spending time on the beach? Making use of the huge fucking forest that was just ten meters away from them? No! They were at a pool, the damn fucking pool. Not even the beach, just a normal pool like any other. Elise couldn't believe it. People swarmed the place to the point there was barely any room to move, and yet children managed to run left and right, screaming their lungs out, and all around being really fucking annoying. Elise had been lucky enough to find one of the few available chairs before the whole crowd had flooded in. Now she refused to leave, not for drinking, not for eating, not for taking a bathroom break. She'd taken a book and started reading, it was the only thing she could do within the shade.
That bitch Bales didn't even allow them to go and do something else. They could've gone trekking in the forest or swimming on the beach. But noooo. "It's dangerous," the teacher had said. "If something happens to you kids, we're responsible." Such bullshit, Elise thought, as she watched Mrs. Bales sunbathing. She wore a rainbow bikini with lime green highlights, and all the dark skin she displayed to everyone glistened under the sun. It was so stupidly tight and revealing, and she always was the one to say something about dress code or some shit.
What a hypocrite. Elise herself had just brought her normal clothes, not even bothering to bring a swimsuit. Because why would she? It wasn't like she could take a swim in that crowded as hell pool, and she didn't feel like being ogled at by the likes of Dick or that redhead's boyfriend. Shit. Elise got red just remembering it. That slut's boyfriend had seen her tits, she could tell.
Elise buried her head in the pages, her eyes so close to the paper she couldn't even make out the words. The only thing on her mind was reading her book, nothing else. Only her and the book.
"What do you think the meteor is?"
And talks about the meteor. The fucking meteor, holy shit. Did nobody else have anything else to talk about? It's like everyone had come to this fucking island dreading the fact they'd have no topic to talk about and sighed in relief as a giant rock fell from the sky and shook the damn resort. What was even the big deal? It was just a big pebble, there were bigger shits in their class group and nobody said anything.
By far the worst thing about the meteor crashing was the loss of phone service, not because she wanted to text all day like the redhead slut and her boyfriend, but because of all the whining from her classmates. "I can't text my parents" "There's no wifi". Boo fucking hoo.
"Mrs. Bales!"
And now there were shouts. More shouts, to be specific.
That rich bitch Caroline practically bounced her way towards their sunbathing teacher, her chest just about to spill out of her red and white bikini. Elise found it funny that that thing somehow showed less skin than her normal clothes did. The funny ran out as soon as Caroline shouted again.
"Mrs. Bales!" she yelled, having the teacher right in front of her. "Dick's being an asshole again!"
Their teacher rolled around on her chair, like a sleeping girl saying "Five more minutes," as her mother told her to get up. The result was that she just showed Caroline her huge ass while the rich girl nagged at her.
"Bales!" Caroline shouted again. What a fucking bother, couldn't she find it in herself to shut the hell up? She'd done it during breakfast, yelling at some poor waitress and even getting physical, because she had given her a pancake with a hair on it. "I'll get your ass fucking fired if you don't do something, hear me? We get back home and you're on the fucking street!"
