They ran through the jungle, the giantesses following closely behind. The sound of wood breaking and trees falling reached their ears as each of the monsters trampled its way through the maze of vegetation. It was an announcement of their proximity, a telltale sign of their impending doom.

God, Tina thought. Her chest burned, she could barely breathe, and her legs felt rigid as stones. She was not used to running this much, with no breaks, on uneven ground, all while dodging obstacles like bushes and stray branches, so hard to see under the gloom of twilight. But she kept going, she had to, otherwise, she'd end up like Cassie, just another snack to fill the belly of a giantess.

As though triggered by her thought, a loud "Booooooooooouuuuuuuurrrrp," came from behind them. A reminder of what happened to those caught by the monsters, and spitting on the grave of the friend who'd helped them so much until now. Shit, Tina still couldn't believe she was gone. The thought of it made her want to fall on her knees and cry, even now she started to feel her eyes sting and burn with sadness. As Dick stepped into her field of view, Tina could not stop thinking that this was all his fault. He'd been the one to push Caroline into such a rage that she'd fallen into the pool and transformed, he'd been the one who had woken up May and forced them to escape, it had been for his stupidity that Cassie had to shoot, which alerted Caroline of their presence. All him, his fucking fault. He was the one that deserved to get eaten, not Cassie.

But there was no point in thinking of that, there was no point in trying to point fingers. All worth thinking about now was running, escaping, and living for another day. That train of thought lead Tina to an awful question. What was the point, now? If they even managed to escape now, how would they get out of the island? All it would take was for Caroline to break the boats on the coast, and they would get trapped here forever. No chance to escape, no chance to thrive, their deaths inside the stomach of one of these monsters were just a matter of time. It was heartbreaking. Did any of her classmates realize? Did any of them think about what they were going to do an hour after this? Or were they so laser-focused on the now, on escaping, to even give a thought to the future? Perhaps they all thought the same thing. Perhaps they all knew of the uncertainty that was waiting for them but chose to say nothing, to keep quiet until this was over, just to be kind to the rest. Tina did the same and kept running, despite feeling like she might as well be eaten now.

For a second, the crumbling of trees ceased, and for a second, Tina's heart filled with hope. They had lost them, they were free. But that hope was too, quickly crushed. There was a strange sound, like creaking wood, brushing leaves, and shifting earth. Tina's heart sank, she had no breath spare to scream, but she forced it out anyways. "Scatter!" Not doubting her for even an instant, everyone jumped away. Uriel and her to the left, the rest to the right. Immediately after, a tree came crashing through the vegetation, its effect quick and devastating.

"Shit!" she could hear on the other side of the huge trunk that had almost killed them. She couldn't agree more. The monsters were done playing games. They didn't have an incessant source of food like earlier today. Now they were desperate, hungry. Now they would do anything if it meant getting them in their stomachs.

"Let's reunite you know where!" Lola called out.

"Alright!" Uriel replied. Then, he helped Tina up. They had a plan, they had an idea. For now, that would have to be enough to keep her going forward.

Holy god damn fucking shit, Elise thought. They'd thrown a tree, a fucking tree! She'd been so hyper focused on escaping, she didn't even hear it coming. Hadn't it been for the redhead telling them to scatter, now she'd be a stain of blood amidst the soil. Shit! Lola said something about them reuniting in the cabin, and the pretty boy on the other side of the trunk confirmed it. Elise pushed herself up and kept running.
