I fired blindly back behind me, a great waste of arrows- but I had no other option. The more I kept away from me the better chance I had of living through this. I spirited forward, as being half elven I was able to move faster than the lumbering beasts behind me. The light of the moon lit the path across the ash for me, I could see distant hills. The only salvation I would have in this dark horrible night. If I could just, keep running. I felt an arrow enter my leg and I limped slightly slowing for only a second before continuing running. If I tore it out, I would be bleeding and they could follow the scent of my blood much easier then my own stench. The arrow was poisoned, of course. I could feel the blood in my leg getting hard. Snake- of course. I might have to saw my own leg off, but that was better then being killed by those damned bull-beasts. I felt my leg get heavy, but I refused to give up. Not now, I couldn't. I was so- cl..ose..
I went down when the poison spread father into my leg. I felt the orc hands on my body and a bite to my neck. Then nothing.
--
I winched as my eyes opened, where was I. I was so tired, covered in white sheets. The last thing I remember was a sword entering my chest. "Iviaan." I snarled my head circling the room. Looking for the bastard man who had shoved a sword straight threw my midsection. I sat up. Far to suddenly because the blood rushed to my head and I felt so dizzy I had to lay down again. I ran my hands threw my long hair as I lay in the bed. Was that worthless thing still out there- with the troops? No, my father would have beheaded him for wounding me. Good. I could take peace in knowing he was dead. I sat up slower this time, as the door to my room opened- a healer with two guards appeared. They where holding up... something. I tipped my head trying to figure out what exactly was in the guards arms. A small- body? I couldn't tell what or who it was because it was covered in blood and bite-marks. I couldn't see it breathing had someone had an accident training? "Sorry, my lord." The healer said to me. "It looks like you will be sharing a cabin for a while."
I stared at the charred body. Now, I could see that its eyes where open- the body held out its hands to the healer. Something sat in the middle of it, a small piece of paper. "T-They." It choked out, the healer moved closer and the thing whispered quietly to her. The healers eyes widened and she took the paper, fear was in her eyes. She raced out of the room without even looking at the things wounds. The charred body moved upward, it looked over at me. Then it began to peal off its armor. I turned away, knowing it would be rude to watch. It removed each piece slowly. I heard them clank on the floor. I glanced over to see the body below the armor was unscaved. Pink as a heathy child's bottom. It was facing away from me, but I still couldn't tell who it was. Perhaps a human? I judged that it was infact a he, because of its underclothing.
He turned towards me as he removed his helmet, his face was scared and bitten. Hair singed and red, blood was on his lips. I quickly recognized who it was and confusion turned to rage. "Iviaan." I snarled. "How dare you show your face around me." Instead of getting angry, his face remained stiff. Empty, eyes glassy and covered with a blue film. I stared, stopping as I stood up. I frowned, but I watched his head tip to the side as he lost balance he fell onto me. I caught him before we both fell back on the bed. He coughed and blood dripped out of his mouth. "By the gods..." I muttered, looking into his glassy eyes. Was... he blind? He didn't seem to be seeing me, or hearing me. I could see scars over his eyes and mouth. I pushed his singed hair away from his ears and I saw that one had been torn open. I winced, his wounds where much worse compared to mine... For a second I felt guilt, but it was quickly replaced with anger. I pushed the blind warrior back into the bed and he coughed again. More blood this time, mixed with something black. I limped to the door and shouted for a nurse as he crumpled over again, black dripping from his thick lips. "They..." he said as I rushed to his side. "They are c-c-" I shook him as his eyes began to close. "What happened, where were you?" I yelled. "Whos coming!?" I yelled, he was actually scaring me now, black blood. What!? As the nurse entered the boy stopped moving, but before he fell back he muttered. "Orc..s"
