Chapter Twenty

"I'm sorry?"

I said, completely calm but on the inside I was freaking out completely. Had he figured it out?? Had I let my guard down to long, my cute girly laugh must have given me away. He was scowling angrily at me. "I knew it! I knew you where no man! With that attitude and that face-" I stood up and put on my best acting facade I could. "How dare you insinuate I am a weak woman. Maybe my face is a little womanly and maybe my laugh is a little girly but did you not see me fighting out there! There was no way a woman could fight like that. They don't even let woman become riders in my village! All im asking for is a little thanks." I snarled. The prince was not convinced but he said nothing. "I guess I have no hard evidence against you, but I'm watching you 'Iviaan' If that is your real name." I grumbled, getting to his feet.

I watched him limp off towards the palace with a scowl on my face, I glanced over at Naia who opened her wings to me. She wanted me to patch up her wound. I nodded to the bird and collected some herbs to make suave then bandaged up the cut. "Lets get back." I said. I knew she wouldn't be able to fly for a few weeks after being injured like that. So I would let her rest, while I worked on cleaning up the mess the Orcs had made. I knew this wasn't the end of the feud between the Elves and Orcs. This was just the first of many battles, neither side had won but both had lost. Now we both needed to collect our strength and prepare for another battle.

As I walked threw the woods I looked back at Naia and sighed. "Perhaps we should go home, We did what we came to do didn't we?" I asked the bird. "I proved myself, and I guess if the prince thinks I'm a woman I should probably leave anyway." I muttered. There was a rustling beside me and the princess Llevelen appeared. She was dressed in full armor now, equipped with daggers and a bow. I realized I didn't have my helmet on, but It was far to late to put it on now. She smiled at me, her long blonde hair drifted out behind her slender frame. "I was sent to hunt down the remaining or escaped Orcs while the bodies are burned. Would you like to come with me." I glanced at Naia who nuzzled on me. "Just rest, girl." I said to the bird. I nodded at the princess. "Sure, lets go." She nodded and jumped into the trees. I followed closely behind. She was a truly beautiful creature, she would find a great husband one day- but I was not that. She sored threw the trees her elven armor clinking as she ran. Gliding like a dove.

I jumped past her, as my legs where considerably longer then hers and I could move a lot quicker. I laughed as I passed her, vanishing into the thick woods before she could catch up. I leapt out of the trees and sored above the foliage before plummeting down onto the top of the trees. I stood on top of the beautiful forest, looking out into the groves of trees. That seemed to stretch on forever. Llevelen caught up with me and smiled.

"Say, Iviaan."

"hmm?"

"Do you have a wife?" I choked on my spit, staring at her with wide eyes. I laughed nervously. "No... hah." She smiled, her thick lips shining in the sunlight. "I know, its weird because we just met... and you're a solider and im a princess but I really fee like I was supposed to be with you!" she said before I could reply there was a burst of leaves and air behind us and a shape appeared. I couldn't process what was happening but a gray hand wrapped around the princesses hand and dragged her down. I shouted in surprise and plummeted after them. A stray orc! It was jumping threw the trees dragging the princess with it. She attempted to stab it, but the orc knocked them out of her hands. I fired arrows at it, but it dodged each one. I put my bow away, it was just slowing me down at this point. I took a short cut in the branches. Jumping over a huge gap, giving me a slight lead on the Orc. The princess was biting its hand, but it just ignored it.

"Hay ugly!"' I yelled. Jumping for it, my foot coming in contact with the creatures face. It tossed the princess into the air. I grabbed her and pushed her behind me. The orc laughed loudly, then I felt something grab my feet. I shouted and pushed the princess away towards a tree. "Run!" where the last words I could say to her before being pulled underground by the Orcs.

Ivian Rath was no He. He was a she, I was sure of it. That adorably female laugh had been the last piece of the puzzle. The reason he constantly wore that bloody helmet. Why he was never seen bathing and why his voice always sounded strange- but of course there was no way I could prove it. Unless I had hard evidence. I stood in the clearing as a gigantic bonfire enveloped the bodies of fallen Orcs. I stared in the burning pile. I don't know why I felt so much animosity towards the man, I mean he had tried to save us... but on the other hand he had ran away. If he had stayed, he could have made my father listen. He could have forced-

There was loud shouting behind me and I Turned to see my sister running into the clearing, she raced to me. "They -"She shouted, I winced. "Calm down. I can barely understand you when you scream like that." She took a deep breath. "They got him!" I rolled my eyes. "Who got what." She grabbed my shoulders and shook me in frustration. "The Orcs took Iviaan!" she shouted.
