George kept twisting and turning for most of the night in dispense for the future. Partial calmness settled once the sun made its way up. But as he glanced at courtyard his heart dropped. Thousands of people were already lined up, ready to head for battle. Some had gladly volunteered but many were there because of force and of most of them were so young: Son, daughter, brothers, sisters – children.

Ethan had insisted on engaging both tanks and foot soldier as he feared that even with a broken shield, the people inside the forest wouldn't give up without a fight.

Dream remained asleep but George couldn't relax anymore. After the speech, Ethan had promised to activate his machine which meant that George and Dream had a few minutes to discreetly follow and find out how that thing worked and figure out how to destroy it.

Polishing his stupid jewelry felt like a mockery to the seriousness of the situation. War was around the corner and here he was, making sure his fucking rings looked good.

A few tears trailed down his cheeks. Humans were such a complex species. Capable of wonders yet equally capable of mass destruction. Brains so easily corrupted by greed, power, money. Still, one of the only animals proven to know how to love. A bunch of contradictions all woven into a being so beautiful but so destructive.

He put on a V-necked long sleeved black shirt with silver embroidery that pictured leaves climbing along his arms. The pants were plain black with a tight fit around his waist but a general loose fit around his legs. He attached a light weighed cape that almost touched the floor before putting on all the various rings, bracelets, and chains.

Something about the tedious process got him realizing that his time here was coming to an end. As he went to brush through his messy hair, he remembered how much trouble he got in because of his opposition towards having a servant. The idea of having someone dress him every day felt like a mockery to his own capability.

Although pretty much everything about the royal life was excessive in his opinion. But which fully functioning, grown adult couldn't dress themselves?

His reflection caught him off guard, still not used to seeing himself with different colored eyes. Though he kind of liked it. But it wasn't just his eyes that were different. His time away had changed him in ways that couldn't be explained.

Maybe it was because it had proven to him just how much he'd been missing out. People that treated him like a normal person, how he got to experience authentic friendships for the first time in his life. Finding out that he was more than a fancy title, bound to a castle for eternity.

His delicate fingers trembled when placing the crown on his head. He opened the bathroom door and saw that Dream remained asleep.

"Me enamore de alguien que no puedo tener." The last part of Quackity's saying rang though his head: By loving the person I cannot have.

Love. Unconditional love. A phenomenon George had longed to experience since he first read one of his many clichéd romantic novels. Something that he quickly gave up on ever finding.

Yet here they were. Despite their rocky start and fallout when George exposed his identity, they still found their way back to one another. He hadn't even confessed his love verbally but hoped that Dream knew anyways.

Maybe he couldn't have Dream forever. After all, if he went through with what he planned on doing, it was a high chance that their time together was coming to an end.

But Dream had shown him love, love that exceeded every love story. Love that had given George something to fight for. Love that simultaneously had awoken his love for life again.
