Taylor's Point of View
After I signed papers with Chris and Matty we talked for a little while before I was shown to my office so the guys could have their meeting. My office was connected to Chris' by a door by the lounge area.
It was small and everything was white besides the door that led to the hallway which was a frosted glass. Chris told me I could decorate it however I wanted and to just charge it to the company. I didn't see the need to really change anything but I wanted to make it more homey.
I sat at my L-shaped white desk and looked around the room. I could bring in some plants from home and I even had a few extra wall decorations that would look nice on the wall next to me. I pulled a small spiral notepad from my purse and made a note to look at rugs to put under my desk so it wouldn't feel like a hospital room with the cold white tile.
In front of my desk were two plastic white chairs with gold legs. I added to my note to find some cushions that would match the rug to make the chairs more comfortable. Behind me the wall was glass, giving me the same view as in Chris' office, just without the balcony. I spun around in my chair with a deep breath and took it all in.
There was a knock on the door and by the way it sounded it was coming from the glass door. Chris had already filled me in on everything I would be responsible for so I felt ready to face whatever walked through the door.
The list wasn't very long but I would be kept busy doing different things. At the office I was to; make sure all things for clients were filed away properly after making sure they were scanned for the electronic files, confirm meetings Chris would need to attend, make sure all paperwork needed for meetings was prepared and set up before meetings, and find information for Chris whenever he didn't have time to do it himself.
At his home he expected me to make sure the kitchen stayed stocked and make sure his cleaner, Donna, was made aware of any additional tasks that needed to be completed. He told me there may be times he has to ask me to do things outside of the list of duties he's given me but he tries his hardest to do things himself.
The glass door opened before I could even respond to the knock and I was a little annoyed. I may not have been anyone of great importance but I always thought it was common courtesy to wait for a response before opening a door. I wasn't surprised, however, to see Sophia's annoying face walk in plastered with a fake as hell smile. Maybe I wasn't as ready as I thought I was.
"Hey Tay." she said, dragging out my name like we've been best friends our whole lives, "I know Matty is still in his meeting with Mr. Miller so I can't go in there and I figured I could give you this paper work. Also I just wanted to tell you about the dress code in case Mr. Miller forgot. Us ladies are to wear a white dress shirt and a dark skirt, navy, black, or dark grey, and black shoes, either heels or flats."
I smiled at her, the pettiness building in my body, and took the folder from her, "It was Sophia right?" she nodded at me, "Perfect. I actually have a couple things I need to go over with you if you have a second." I grabbed the notebook that had my ideas for redecorating the office and made sure she couldn't see what I had written.
"Of course Tay, what can I do for you?" She sat in one of the chairs across from me crossing her legs at the knee.
"First I would appreciate you calling my Taylor from now on. Also you will no longer refer to Mr. Carbo as Matty, instead you can call him Mr. Carbo, because at this company we expect professionalism at every level. Secondly, when you knock on my door I expect you to wait for a response. If you do not get one, that would be your cue to turn around and send me a message through the office messaging system. That is when I will either let you know when I'm back in my office or I will come find you. Now if there's nothing else I can do for you I would like to get to work. Thank you." I kept my spine straight and a smile on my face the entire time I spoke to her.
