Taylor's Point of View
The memory of the last time I was at Lapis was fresh in my mind from earlier this week as I tried to pick out my clothes. Part of me wanted to hide myself so the Elliot's of the world would overlook me but the better part of me told me to wear whatever I wanted. After putting some soft curls in my hair and adding some subtle touch ups to my make up to make it more of a night look, I met Madison in the hall to leave.
"Fucking hell Taylor!" Madison exclaimed.
"Is it bad?" I fretted. I knew picking a black lace lingerie bodysuit was a risk on its own since my boobs were literally spilling out of the top, but I thought I would play it a little safe by pairing it with high waisted jeans that had holes above both knees. I had tried on three different tops before feeling like this one covered up my scars well enough to not be seen, but still made me feel sexy.
"Not at all. I am going to have trouble keeping guys away from you all night." She grabbed her purse and we left the apartment, "Should we walk or..." I looked down at my cheetah print heeled boots and we both laughed, "A cab it is."
I snorted, "I wonder if I'm even allowed."
"What do you mean allowed?" She asked as we rode down the elevator.
"Your brother and Chris said they never wanted me to see the inside of a cab again. Chris has sent a guy named Enzo every morning this week to pick me up and take me to the office. He also has been bringing me home if none of the guys could do it."
"Awe," Mads sighed, "I love Enzo, he's one of the best."
"How the hell do you know Enzo?"
"Oh, um," she stammered, "he used to work for my dad. Then when dad had to get rid of some people he mentioned him to Chris. I guess dad had kept in contact with Chris throughout the years."
"Right." I was skeptical but decided not to press her, "I say we take a cab, let the guys get all worked up about it."
With a chuckle she waved down a cab and gave them our destination. I stared out the window at all the city lights contemplating whether or not this was a good idea. I don't know why I was so nervous to go to Lapis. Sure the Elliot thing happened but it could have been much worse. I had been to other clubs since that incident and nothing bad had happened at any of them, but something told me to stay alert tonight. If there was one thing I would never question it was a gut feeling.
Just before we pulled up to the club my phone lit up with Chris' name. I answered, trying to keep my nerves out of my voice so he wouldn't think anything was wrong.
"Tot, what are you doing tonight? Want to go to dinner?" he asked. I could hear papers being shuffled around so I knew he was still at the office.
"I'm actually about to go into a club with Mads. Can we go out tomorrow night?"
His end went quiet for a split second, "What club are you going to?" His deep voice seemed even deeper.
I swallowed hard, "Lapis, why? We're about to get out of the cab, what's wrong?"
He sucked in a breath, "Nothing's wrong tesoro, you should have called Enzo for a ride though. I thought we were clear on my thoughts about you in a cab."
"I didn't want to bother him at the last minute." I tried to convince him.
"We can talk about it later, go have fun with Madison. And Tot?"
"Yes Chris Cross?" I sighed.
"Be safe." He hung up before I could respond. If I wasn't nervous about the night before I sure as hell was now.
