U-Kwon just stared at me. I knew he knew, and he knew that I knew. It was extremely awkward, knowing that he thought he knew my whole story. But he doesn't, and he won't.
"Raekyo, will you please tell me what happened? Why are you here? What happened before you got here?"
I can't tell him, yet I really want to tell someone. For my own safety. If someone knew, that person would have my back in awkward situations, and I wouldn't be... alone... NO. I can't tell him.
"Please." He repeated, taking my hand.
My breathing turned sharp as I sighed and retracted my hand, and standing. "I can't tell you."
He stood behind me, and grabbed my shoulder, turning me. "You can't do this. You can't just tell Jaehyo something, let me hear it, and then tell me you can't explain."
Funny, we just met this morning, and now we're arguing. I'm such a shitty person.
"U-Kwon, can this wait? We just met! I don't wanna screw up our friendship because of my life before I met you."
His eyes softened a bit, and he looked at the floor. "I forgot that we just met this morning. It feels like it's been days."
"It does..." I agreed.
He messed with his own fingers and stared at his hands, before sighing and scratching his neck. "Listen, I'm so sorry for trying to-"
"No, stop right there. Sit down." I jumped back onto his bed and patted the seat next to me. "I'll tell you."
"No! You don't have to!"
I shook my head, "I don't know why, but I feel like I'm required to tell you. It's just this gut feeling, I need to tell you."
He nodded, "Then I'll listen, and I'll keep it a secret. I'll be your buddy." He laughed at himself.
I laughed also, but then became serious.
"U-Kwon, when I was young, my parents got divorced. When they split, they sent me to my Uncle Yomi and my cousin Sookyo. My mother told my uncle and cousin to protect me, and to keep a secret from me." I stopped to see his response so far.
"My parents were divorced when I was young too. I know how you feel. But it's common for that."
"Yea, I guess." I shrugged, "Anyway, I lived with them for the rest of my life. Sookyo was dating a guy named Jiwon, and he was my best friend for years. About a month ago, Sookyo thought she caught me trying to kill myself."
"Wait, so you were best friends with your cousin's boyfriend?" U-Kwon questioned.
"Yea, and she always thought he liked me, but I knew he didn't. At least not up until Wednesday."
"What happened?" U-Kwon was as interested as physically possible, and he started getting closer to me, probably feeling me slowly losing myself.
"He..." I exhaled, preparing myself, "He tried to rape me Wednesday, when no one was home. He called me to Sookyo's room, shirtless, the curtains closed, waiting for me. I walked in anyway."
U-Kwon gasped, "Oh my god..."
"He grabbed me before I escaped, but then I got away when Uncle Yomi and Sookyo came back. He told me that Sookyo was gonna try to kill me again, and so I ran to my room. Like he said, she threatened my life, and later she told me that if I didn't have a good reason, she would kill me."
U-Kwon had a look on his face. He was shocked. "How could she just easily kill you? Is she mental?"
I shook my head, "Like I said, they both treated me poorly. My best friend and other friend, Jera, were all I had for a long time. But anyway, I clearly didn't convince her to let me live, so I ended up running from her and a gun Thursday morning. I ran into an old building, found Jera, and we hid out for awhile. She suggested I come to Seoul, so I did."
