My eyes opened with ease. I immediately remembered the previous events, though I didn't know when they happened. I assumed they were recent, since Zico was still in the corner of the room, now eating a cookie since he gave me blood and probably was weak.
He was looking around the room as he chowed down. His eyes landed upon me, then expanded an unusual amount. His eyes were always thin in my opinion.
"Raeki, you're awake!" He screamed, cookie crumbs flying everywhere. I couldn't help but laugh, but my laugh was unrecognizable. It was gross sounding, groggy and deep. Zico jumped off the chair and ran out of the room with the door wide open, shouting to the heavens. "She woke up! Dr. Jung! Nurse Hyesung! Guys!"
Was it really so shocking that I was awake. I just got surgery, that's all. Was there something I didn't know?
Before I could get out of bed or question someone, the room was filled with Nurse Hyesung, Dr. Jung, and all of Block B, along with Jera. I was bombarded with Dr. Jung and Nurse Hyesung both checking my temperature and blood pressure, along with a bunch of other stuff I didn't understand. Meanwhile, the rest stared at me in amazement.
"Wow," Kyung said, "The Lord and Savior must be watching over us."
Once again, I didn't comprehend why it was so fantastic that I woke up? I was going to wake up from surgery. Almost everyone does.
"Yea, it's a wonder she survived." Taeil added, looking over Dr. Jung's shoulder at the screen.
"What's going on?" I asked, begging for information on why everyone was surprised. Still, my voice was nasty and scary. "Why is it such a big deal?"
Dr. Jung turned away from the screen of his laptop and handed me what looked like a picture of my shoulder, where I was shot.
The bullet had gone through my bones, but stopped next to where my heart was. If the sizing of the diagram was to actual size, this meant the bullet was a centimeter from hitting my heart. I was so close to dying, and it must've been why I had trouble moving and talking before surgery.
"The bullet would've automatically killed you if you would've moved at all during surgery or before that. From what we collected, you were only minutes from regaining your ability to move, which would've been the death of you. Thank god these people showed up when they did." Dr. Jung explained, "You're safe to live normally, but I want to see you once a month every month until I say you're okay to stop checking in. also, you're speech and movements will be a bit messed up for a little while. It's nothing to be too concerned about, but be careful."
It scared me, just thinking how close I actually was to never seeing any of these people again. The 7 boys and my best friend.. I would never be where I was without them... literally.
Pyo stepped forward a slight bit to ask quietly, "When can she come home?"
Nurse Hyesung gave the doctor a look and she smiled, "If she can get off the bed without hurting herself, she's free to go."
Without warning anyone, I threw my blanket to the side and swung my legs over the side. There was no way I was staying in the hospital any longer. To my surprise, I didn't feel any pain.
"She may return home. Who does she live with?" The nurse asked, glancing up at Jera in assumption.
"I live with all of them, together in one large apartment." I answered, pointing to them.
"Will you have a bed to rest in?"
I didn't know that. I was going to the couch most likely. "I-"
"She and I share a bed, but I can take the couch until she's fit to share again." Did I just hear what I think I heard?
"Okay, then I say you should be okay to leave. You might get occasional pains in the chest, so just take an advil or aleve. You guys can sign her out in the office downstairs."
