Merlin's POV
To look up at the castle made all the memories, all the pain I had faced here and the happiness come rushing back to the front of my brain. Letting me remember how much this place actually meant to me but when I looked at The Doctor beside me and River I let my heart sink again.
I'm going to miss him. I will miss him and what do I really have here? Why has he brought me back here? To fulfill my so called destiny? Maybe I don't want a destiny anymore. Maybe I want to be with the Doctor for many years. Maybe my path is with him...not Arthur.
"Merlin," says the Doctor looking at me.
"Yeah," I turn to look at him.
"I know you are unhappy but this wasn't going to be forever. It's time to continue on your path, your destiny. I've loved being a part of your life the last few weeks. But Camelot needs you and so does Arthur. It's time you went to face it. Before the future is destroyed by the none presence of you. I am sorry, but you will thank me."
I look at the Doctor and nod my head. He is right. If I want to continue to travel with the Doctor I could change everything. If this is time...then the Doctor is right. No escape.
I watch as the Doctor and River get back in the Tardis. I run over to them both and bring them into a huge hug. "Thank you," I whispered before I stepped back and let them close the door on me.
I step back further and watch as the Tardis starts to fade with its usual sound. I smile at that.
I look over at the castle and sigh. Here goes nothing. I wonder what I will face? Will Arthur send me off again or listen? Will he give me a second chance to show to him. All I did was to protect him. To help him. For him to know I never killed his father and I would never kill him. This is my life, the Doctor is right about that and its time to stand up and fight for just that. My life. My future here in Camelot and I won't walk away with out a fight this time.
I walk through the lower town. I wonder if anyone recognizes me? I wonder if I can just walk through here up into the castle with out being stopped. If I can that will prove how bad security is all this time later.
I managed to reach the courtyard but I got no further. "Stop!" I heard two guards blocking my path up the steps into the castle. I step back putting my hands up.
"I'm sorry but I really need to see Arthur," I tell them looking at them both seriously.
"You were vanished from Camelot," one says to me.
"You shouldn't be here let alone to see the King!" the other one barks.
"Can you please just ask if he wants to see me," I beg them now.
"We are sorry, Merlin. You must leave now or we will have to make you," they both say now looking at me angrily.
"Please guys you really don't know how much this means to me. I have to see Arthur and I will not be leaving with out seeing him," I tell them firmly I say kneeing down in front of them.
They both took either wide of my arms dragged me to my feet and started pulling me across the courtyard.
"Arthur! Arthur I need to see you! Arthur please!" I start shouting at the top of my lungs as they continue to pull me away. "Arthur!" I scream one last time.
"What are you doing to Merlin?" I hear a voice from behind me. I look at who had just said my name and smile at Gwaine in his Knight uniform.
"He was vanished from Camelot. We are doing our job!" they both said to him.
