Merlin’s POV

“So Merlin was born with it?” I heard the Doctor’s voice from the other part of the chamber. I yarned before I got out of bed and quickly got dressed. I headed into the other part of the chamber to find the Doctor and Gaius at the table eating breakfast.

“Indeed he was. Merlin is special,” said Gaius.

“He seems to be.”

“You say he will be the greatest warlock ever known. I knew he would,” smiled Gaius.

“You have faith in him?” asked the Doctor.

“Not the first day I met him. He was a clumsy idiot but not anymore. He has become a fine young warlock and wise one at that,” said Gaius.

I approached them. “Morning,” I said making out I hadn’t heard a word they were talking about.

“Merlin, you’re up,” smiled the doctor as he came closer to me before backing away again. “Anyway, Gaius has made breakfast,” The Doctor grinned.

“I’m already late. I must go now. I’ll eat later,” I said as I went to walk straight past the table and the Doctor who stood beside it.

“I’m coming with you,” said the Doctor.

“Why is that?” I said concerned.

“I must figure this out and I got feeling I can’t do that without you,” the Doctor grinned and pointed his weird....whatever he calls it.

“It’s a sonic screwdriver. No can’t read your mind before you ask, I can just tell by your expression that you still have no idea what this is called. You’ll remember it in time. Especially if it saves your life, like it has done me for years. On we go then.”

“I am going to serve, Arthur. You can’t show up with me,” I began to complain.

“Why is that?” asked the Doctor looking at me.

“How do I explain, well you,” I said.

“Not to worry, I have a plan,” the Doctor said.

“I have to see this,” I laughed.

Arthur’s POV

I heard movement. Is it morning already? I tried to ignore the sound until light burst into my eyes. “Merlin!” I shouted.

I heard nothing that is not normally like Merlin. I opened my eyes to find Merlin standing over me. “Rise and shine,” he grinned.

“Merlin, you idiot!” I shouted as I went to hit him with my pillow but I stopped when I noticed someone else in the room.

“Sire, this is my cousin, John Smith,” said Merlin with his cheeky grin.

“What is he doing in here?” I asked still waiting for an answer I had expected the first time. He looks nothing like him but then he is his cousin so that would be why.

“I need to ask you a favour. Is there any chance just this week, John can work for you too?” he said. His face got me the most and I burst into laughter.

“If it’s that important to you, Merlin then alright that’s fine. You better be good as I have enough with Merlin messing up,” I laughed.

“Oh really?” Merlin’s cousin asked....John right.

Merlin looked at me and I burst into laughter again. “It’s called a joke. Anyway I got a training session, where is the armour you said you went to polish last night?” I asked.
