Adelaide ran to Stark Tower, killing as many aliens as she could along the way.
Once inside the tower she took the elevator to the top floor.
She got to the top floor and say Dr. Selvig laying on the ground with blood coming from a small wound.
"Doctor." Adelaide tan up to him. "I need your help." As far as she could tell he didn't have any severe injuries. "Duck!" Adelaide pushed him down and watched Natasha jump onto the roof.
"The scepter..." Selvig said.
"Doctor."
"Loki's scepter. The energy. The Tessaract can't fight, but you can't protect against yourself." He explained.
"It's not your fault." Natasha told him. "You didn't know what you were doing."
"Actually, I think I did. I built a safety to cut their power source."
"Loki's scepter."
"It may be able to close the portal. And I'm looking right at it."
"So, all we need to do is knock it out of place?"
"Something like that."
Natasha tossed the scepter up to Adelaide.
"Right at the crown!" Selvig pointed.
Adelaide pushed the point through the barrier around the cube.
"We can close it." Natasha said to the others over the comms. "Can anybody copy? We can shut the portal down."
Adelaide pushed with more force, yet the scepter still seemed heavy.
"Do it!"
"No, wait." Stark said.
"Stark, these things are still coming." Steve told him.
"I got a nuke coming in. It's gonna blow in less than a minute."
Adelaide held the scepter where it was a waited for something to happen. "What do I do?"
"Wait." Natasha told her.
Stark flew above them carrying a Nike through the portal. And then all the aliens collapsed. None moved.
"C'mon, Stark."
"Close it." Steve told her.
Adelaide pushed the scepter in as far as it needed to be. The portal closed and the only thing left in the sky was a man, falling.
Natasha and Adelaide were thrown back by the destruction of the machine keeping the portal opened.
"He made it." Natasha said with some relief. "We did it."
Adelaide leaned against the scepter and started laughing. "We did it. We are a badass team."
"Yeah we are." Natasha couldn't help but join in on the fit of laughter.
"What about Loki?" Selvig asked.
The team of seven met on the top floor of Stark Tower and found Loki, conveniently still alive.
"If it's all the same to you, I'll have that drink now."
