Adelaide returned to her apartment, dropping her keys on the counter. When she heard the floor creaking she drew her gun. Rue wasn't home yet.
The Winter Soldier came out from hiding, blocking every shot with his metal arm. He kept getting closer as Adelaide kept trying to back up.
When he was close enough, he knocked the gun from her hand and pushed her against the wall.
"I'm trying to help you." He insisted. She saw it in his eyes that he was desperate and spoke in Russian so no one could understand them.
"Ugh!" Adelaide struggled. His voice was strange, and his accent was still thick.
They both froze when there was a knock on the door. "Addy, I got the food." Natasha said from the hall.
"You have to listen to me." The soldier said.
He loosened his grip on her neck so she could speak. "One second." Adelaide shouted towards the door. Adelaide pushed the soldier away. "What are you talking about?" She demanded.
"Hydra's coming. You have to go." He said. He sounded like a child trying to form words.
"What? Wha--Why should I trust you?" She demanded. "You tried to kill me." She pointed out, exasperated by this turn of events. The Winter Soldier standing in her apartment.
Another knock sounded from the door. "Please." He begged. They both turned when they heard a crash.
"My lucky day. Two for one." A woman's voice said from the window.
The woman's identity was revealed by her sai and the six-headed symbol on her belt, but her face hidden with a mask.
"Scylla?" Adelaide gasped. The right person to break in at the best time.
The soldier jumped forward fighting against the assassin sent to kill them. They began to tear apart her apartment as they went. When no one answered the door Natasha broke it down.
"Really?" Adelaide grumbled.
Natasha pulled out her gun and fired, but Scylla dodged every shot.
"A widow. Interesting mix." Scylla said. The HYDRA assassin charged the soldier with her weapons drawn and blood lust in her eyes.
Adelaide ran to get a knife from the kitchen.
"FBI! Everyone freeze!" An officer ordered.
"Oh, my God!" Adelaide dropped the knife.
Before anyone could move, Scylla ran towards the men and began killing.
"We're getting out." Someone grabbed Adelaide's arm and pulled her to the window. Leaving down the fire escape, the three of them ran into a nearby alley.
"What is he doing?" Natasha held her gun aimed at the soldier.
"No time. We have to get as far away as possible." Adelaide stopped her. Adelaide's phone rang and she checked the caller ID. "Rue, now's not a good time."
"I know. Meet me at Laurel's tomorrow morning." Rue quickly hung up.
"Okay." Adelaide grumbled as she hung up.
The trio stayed in Adelaide's car, none of them sleeping a wink as they waited for dawn. When the sun was rising they drove to the small cafe to meet Rue.
They found Rue and Mace sitting at a table outside.
"What's he doing?" Adelaide asked.
"Exactly what I was going to ask." Rue said, looking at Bucky.
The soldier's eyes scanned the restaurant and he stood behind Adelaide like a scared animal. A million thoughts ran through his head as he tried to recognize these people, the only one he knew was the Silver Widow.
"Doesn't matter." Adelaide sat down with the rest of them. "We were attacked last night." Adelaide said.
"So were we." Mace said.
"Atlas." James said.
"We?" Adelaide repeated in shock. "As in...together?"
"Not now." Rue said, holding up her hand.
"Who are these people?" Natasha asked.
"HYDRA super soldiers." Adelaide said.
"Their best agents. Scylla and Knox have escaped S.H.I.E.L.D. many times. Every time we get close, it's like they disappear." Mace explained. "I don't understand why they attacked us last night." He furrowed his brows, thinking over the situation.
"We're loose ends." Bucky said. "Not all of HYDRA went down with S.H.I.E.L.D.."
Adelaide looked at him confused. She didn't understand how he was able to know all this and not run away to save himself.
"You guys should get out of the country." Natasha said. "I'll tell the others to start locating all other HYDRA bases." She suggested.
"Thanks." Adelaide smiled as Natasha stood up to leave.
"I can get the four of us a ride out of the country." Mace said. He already had his phone pulled out.
"The three of us, yourself not included, will get out of the country." Adelaide said.
"I have hundreds of international connections. I can help." Mace insisted.
"No. What you have are three former HYDRA agents, one being an Avenger and another being a former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. I doubt your connections will be quiet about that." Adelaide said dryly. She stood to leave.
"I'm offering to help you." Mace reminded her.
"We don't need it."
"Okay." Rue said. "Can I talk to you?" She looked at Adelaide.
They both stood up. "You both better be here when we get back." Adelaide warned the two men she didn't trust.
The two girls huddled on the other side of the patio and Adelaide leaned against one of the other tables.
"He's trying to help." Rue told her.
"I know. But he worked for S.H.I.E.L.D. so he could be working for HYDRA. I don't trust him." Adelaide shrugged.
"But you're willing to trust the Winter Soldier? I trust him. Don't you trust me?" Rue asked.
When the girls returned to the table Adelaide gave in and accepted to let Mace help. It was true it wasn't fair to ignore Mace's help while accepting the soldier's.
The four were now working together and found a car, driving towards the closest airport.

Am I rewriting these last few chapters? Yes. Yes, I am. Mostly because of the bad writing and I have a different idea.
