Hi! Welcome to the sequel of Destiny Rules! It's been a bit, but I decided to revive this one. If you haven't read the first part, I highly suggest starting there because you will be confused and have no idea what's happening. Here is link: https://www.wattpad.com/story/309990811-destiny-rules

~Spoilers from first part ahead~

As a refresher, we ended things in the first part in 2007 with Stevie and Lindsey deciding to end their affair and make a pact to be together once their kids were grown. We're starting off here three years later in 2010. Here we go...

January 2, 2010

Stevie swirled her glass of wine around the tabletop, watching the deep red color spin in a twister-like state. The harder she stared at it, the more she prayed it would give her the power to finish writing this damn song she'd been agonizing over all day. Inspiration struck last night, and she'd been awake ever since scribbling out the words with a rigor she couldn't ignore. She was supposed to go with Lori to take Lily and Jessi shopping today before their holiday break from school ended, but she decided to stay home to get some solo writing time in. She had less than a week until she was due in the studio, and it was now crunch time.

"Moooooom, we're home!" Lily's voice called as the front door swung open and Stevie heard the pattering of heels heading her way.

"Any luck?" Stevie smiled, taking a much-needed break from the piece of paper she'd been staring at for way too long now.

"I got the coolest pair of jeans, you're going to die when you see them," Lily beamed.

"Well, I certainly hope not," Stevie grinned looking up to Lori, "Thanks for taking her."

Stevie and Lori watched as Lily pulled her older cousin with her towards her bedroom upstairs, where she presumably planned to try on all the clothes they bought today at the mall.

"So, did you get the song done?" Lori asked once they were alone.

Stevie shrugged, standing up and closing her journal, "It's almost there. Something slightly missing, I can't get it right."

"Maybe you're overthinking it. You know sometimes you just need to play it out in the studio."

"No, this one needs to be ready to go before I bring it to the band next week."

Lori raised her eyebrow, deciding whether she should say what she really wanted or keep her mouth shut. She went with the riskier option. "And is that because inspiration struck yesterday for a particular reason?"

"What do you mean?" Stevie asked, sitting onto the couch across from Lori.

"Well, yesterday was one year since 'the incident' with Lindsey, was it not? And you've got less than a week until you finally have to face him again in the studio. Seems like a pretty big coincidence to me."

Stevie scoffed, rolling her eyes and making herself look busy pretending to pet her dog, "Would you please stop referring to it as THE INCIDENT? That makes it sound so dark and ominous."

"What would you prefer I call it? The time—" Lori was interrupted by Lily running through the room modeling her new jeans.

With another roll of the eyes at Lori, Stevie quickly diverted her attention to her daughter, a welcomed distraction at the moment. She spent the next five minutes ogling over her and the jeans, doing everything she could to prevent Lily from skipping out of the room and leaving her to Lori's questioning.
