Sleepyhead

"My life isn't interesting Den. There's nothing to know about me." Napa-irap ako sa sinabe niya. Duuuh. Why is this man so ugggh! I don't know what to say. Ang nega ng lalaking to.

"Wag ka nga Kev! I want to know. Your life seems interesting..." He place his book sa bedside table and looks at me.

"Look Den, my life's a bore. Well... maybe it changed, now it isn't" I didn't hear his last sentence kaya napakunot ako ng noo. I asked him what but tinawanan niya lang ako. What I notice about Kevin is, he's too serious, focus masyado sa trabaho, hindi palangiti. You know seryoso talaga. Bihira ko siyang makita ngumiti or tumawa. Seeing him laugh and smile gives me joy, I don't know why.

"Your life isn't Kev. I will listen naman kahit boring, just please I want to know... I mean to know you better, in a better way. Pangit yung naging start naten because of the, ugh the arranged marriage and I didn't expect any of these will happen so c'mon..." He sighs at tinaas niya pa yung dalawang kamay niya as sign of defeat.

"I was born here, in the Philippines. My dad's the Chinese and my mom's the Filipino. 2 months after my mom gave birth, we get back on China because of dad's business. We stayed there. When I was high school, lumipat kame sa U.S and I continued my studies there. And finally, we go here and decided that I'll be finishing my studies here. I met Irvine and Drake nung college so we became you know bros. Until we graduate and now I manage this business. I don't know I could be this successful as they said." He shrugs at tumango ako. Parang may kulang naman sa sinabe niya. That isn't enough information.

"How about girlfriends? Uhm... Actually I heard from Jen na nagka-girlfriend ka. Only once?" His face darkens at parang ayaw niya pag-usapan yon. Maybe di pa siya nakaka-move on? I don't know.

"Uhm forget it you don't need to answer that ques-" he cuts me off and he sighs heavily.

"I had a girlfriend. Yeah 4 months before we graduate. She was my thesis partner, she's the first ever girl I know that doesn't like me. She was so kind and everything. I liked her. It was the first time that I liked someone. Before I make a move I make sure that I'm sure of my feelings for her. So then I court her and she became mine. I was so happy, she was my source of happiness besides of my friends. I always have this family problem, I hated home. I hate going home because I know I'll only face bullshit. She was the only one who knew about that problem. She was always there to cheer me up and make me happy. Until one day, she left. She left without saying anything... Until I found out that she's in the U.S. I followed her but I was surprised because she's with... She's with someone else. Maybe that's why she left, she left me for someone else." Naiiyak ako sa kwento niya. Naalala ko yung pang-iiwan ko kay Josiah. I can feel Kev's pain. Ramdam kong sobra siyang nasaktan because she really loved the girl. Ganito rin kaya naramdaman ni Josiah when I left him?

"So... Hindi ka pa nakaka-move on? I mean, uhm I can feel pain from you..." I can't refrain myself from asking question gosh.

"I moved on Den. Really. I feel pain yes, but I moved on..."

"Hey sleepyhead wake up. Madaya ka, you asked me to tell a story but you slept... Wake up now" minulat ko ang mata ko and I noticed I was sleeping at Kevin's arms. Kaya siguro di siya makabangon gawa ko. Napaupo agad ako at tumingin ako sa kanya.

"Sorry nakatulog pala ako!" I said at naalala kong nagpakwento nga pala ako sa kanya.

"Tss it's okay. I know you're tired, I hate to wake you up but it's already 6pm and I guess we need to fix ourselves for later. 7pm party." He said and I suddenly remember Jen. Oh yeah, may lakad kame ng 7pm. First time kong magba-bar to. Josiah doesn't want me going to bars because he said baka mabastos ako. Ugh Josiah again. But somehow it doesn't give me much pain remembering him. This is new.

Tumayo na ko at una siyang nag-shower then after ako naman. I only wear laced sleeveless top na hanggang baba lang ribcage ko haha. And I wear my denim high waisted shorts withh my white sandals. I applied a bit powder and lip balm, combed my hair and I'm ready to go. I went out of the bathroom and Kevin's wearing a gray board short with his black shirt. He looks good as ever. Ba't pa kaya siya pinagpalit nung ex niya? I shake my head and get my phone.

"What's wrong?" He asked me. He saw me shaking my head oops. I smiled at him and mouthed 'nothing'. So nagkita-kita kame sa hotel lobby then sabi ni Jen maglalakad daw papunta dun sa bar though it's a bit far pero okay lang daw yon para makapag sight-seeing. Jen, Irvine and Drake is in front of us. Naguusap-usap sila about God knows what. Kevin is walking beside me, he's quiet. Parang malalim iniisip.

"Earth to Kevin please!" I said and I saw him smiled. Achievement! I made him smile. He looks at me quizically. I smile at him.

"Lalim ng iniisip ni Mr. CEO ah. Mind sharing?" I asked him and he puts both his hands on the pocket of his shorts.

"You won't understand even if I share Den..." Ba't ba lagi kasing nagsa-sarili to?

"Then let me understand. I'll try to understand" i said and give him my reassuring smile but he shakes his head.

"This is not the time Den, I guess this is not. Someday..." Naguluhan ako sa someday niya kaya natahimik ako. Medyo mahaba na ang nalalakad naman and medyo nakakapagod na pero okay lang naman kase nae-enjoy ko yung view.

"You tired?" I looked at Kevin and he stopped walking. He's looking at me with his worried eyes. There's something about his eyes. Emotions I can't read. It's like maraming sinasabe yung mata niya na hindi ko maintindihan. This man is very mysterious.

"A bit. Pero okay lang, ang ganda dito..." I told him. I feel awkward. I don't know why I feel awkward actually.

"You want me to carry you?" Agad akong napa-tingin sa kanya at umiling. Bigla siyang tumawa dahil sa reaction ko.

"Okay fine. But tell me pag di mo na kaya I'm telling you I would carry you" he said habang pinipigilan niya pa ang pagtawa. What's with this man?
