It had been 5 years since she last stepped foot in Kings Landing, leaving with her parents after a fight broke out between the families. Danera was Rhaenyra's second child, who many had assumed was Leanors, her long white hair was the giveaway. However, what many didn't know, was 17 years ago, Daemon came to Dragonstone to see Rhaenyra, not long after his wife passed. They stayed up all night, talking about everything that had happened since they last saw eachother, both stuck in marriages that didn't suit them. Then without really meaning to, they spent the night together. Of course, everyone finally believed Rhaenyra and Leanor had finally conceived, but only Rhaenyra knew the truth. She hadn't even told Daemon, knowing he would likely claim Danera, and put another scandal to her name.
Danera was brought up as Leanors, she was his favourite, giving his favourite girl everything she could want. They flew around Dragonstone together, Leanor on Seasmoke, Danera on Starlight. She was less close with her mother, who pushed her away, not wanting to remember her mistakes. She wanted to love Danera. Secretly, she was her favourite also, the only child she had with the man she truly loved, but she couldn't look into Daneras eyes without wanting to tell her who her real father was. So she'd push her away, pretending to be busy with her sons, preparing them for the throne they would one day hold.

Danera stepped off the boat, exhausted from the sail. She was frustrated, angered by not being allowed to fly there. It would have saved so much time, but her mother insisted that she had to make a good impression. Now she was 17, the queen insisted she come back to find a suitor, something which Danera did not care for. Her mother tried to object to it, but both the King and Queen insisted. The whole family were there to greet her, all of which she hadn't seen in years. Aegon three years older than her, looking as exhausted as she felt, he had large bags under his eyes and an uncaring look upon his face. However, under all his anger, he still managed to look handsome, with short white hair that blew in the sea wind, just about showing his features. Aemond had completely changed. They had rushed away so quickly after his accident, she never took in the damage to his eye. He stood tall and proud, without a care for anyone else. He was mysterious, clever and calculated. Danera looked at him, remembering that night, she was the one that ran over to him, shouting at her brothers for what they had done. She remembered him pushing her off, acting like she was the one to blame. Pushed out of her thoughts, Helena walked over, linking arms with Danera. "It's so wonderful to have you back, finally, another girl in the castle that I can talk to" Helena spoke with enthusiasm. Danera smiled, said her hellos to the rest of the family, Aemond barely looking at her and Aegon walking off ahead before she could even speak to him.

What she didn't know, was that walking away, was the only way Aegon could keep his eyes off her. They had never been close as children, Aegon usually teasing her, not wanting anything to do with his younger niece, but now, she was beautiful. He had always known she would be, but would never admit it to himself as a child. He was too wrapped up in drinking to care about anyone other than himself. He couldn't think as he walked back up to the castle, not understanding how one person could make him feel so many different things at once. He never felt this with the whores he'd met, he'd never even really looked at them, just wanting another excuse to distract himself from his own thoughts. He finally got back to his room, somehow sober as his mother had forbidden him from drinking until the evening. It was almost dark outside, sitting down on his bed, wondering why he had let himself even look at the girl. She was Rhaenyra's daughter, an enemy to him, he'd never liked Rhaenyra or her children and their perfect little family. Always jealous of the love Rhaenyra gave. He sat with his head in his hands, wanting another drink to make his head stop spinning.

Aegon woke up to banging on his door, confused, he shouted "what!" grumpily. "The queen requests you for dinner my lord" he heard the guard outside say. "Fine" he grunted back, sitting up, still fully clothed. He must have drifted off, the last thing he could remember was thinking about Danera. He hadn't slept sober in years, but somehow, thinking about her had a calming effect on him. Like the world stopped and he could breathe again.

A short chapter for the first one, I wanted to introduce the characters. I haven't written anything before, so please be patient with me.
