Aegon took several days to recover, Danera not leaving his side. She spent the time reading to him, with him resting his head on her. The idea of losing Aegon almost broke her. He had become her closest ally, the only person she truly trusted.

Of course, the time they had spent together had caused gossip, but Danera didn't care. It only pushed Alicent further towards the idea of marrying the pair, to avoid the whispers she constantly heard. The king, still severely unwell, was now barely involved in matters of state. Alicent making decisions in his place, with the help of her father, the hand. They had spoken about the idea of a marriage between Aegon and Danera, something that Otto firmly believed in. He knew it would have a great influence over uniting the kingdom in Aegons claim to the throne, something he had always worked towards. To have Rhaenyra's own daughter by the side of his grandson, would cement the Targaryen dynasty.

"Good morning" Aegon smiled up at Danera, she had been awake for hours already. Barely able to sleep until she felt Aegon was truly well again. She smiled back at the prince, enjoying every morning he woke up next to her. "How are you feeling?" She asked, looking into his eyes. "I'd feel perfect after a kiss" he smirked at her, she giggled and pressed a delicate kiss to his lips. "You're ridiculous" she laughed. "Only for you Dany" he smiled back, making her blush. "Now you are better, we will need a plan" she began, finally being able to discuss what she had been keeping to herself. She had been ignoring her mothers demands to return to Dragonstone. "I thought getting married was the plan" Aegon smiled, giggling slightly. "Well, yes, but it's a bit more complicated than that" Danera replied. Although Aegon had been unwell, spending the last few days with him mostly alone had been wonderful. "So you didn't tell your mother the plan, that we had already slept together" Aegon asked brining her out of her thoughts. "No, I left before that" she replied, unable to keep the upset look from her face. She hadn't told Aegon the truth yet, feeling ashamed. Her whole life felt like a lie. "What's wrong" Aegon looked at her concerned. "Just a lot to figure out isn't it" she sighed, trying to smile at him. "Don't worry about it, we will work it out" he looked into her eyes and kissed her, more passionately than before. Danera deepened the kiss, moving to sit herself on his lap. She giggled "doesn't take much does it." She could feel him beneath her. "Not with you" he smiled back, cupping her face to continue the kiss.

A knock at the door tore them apart, moving as far away from eachother as possible. "Enter" Aegon spoke, a cocky smile appearing on his face, Danera was bright read. To their surprise, it was the queen, she walked in smiling at the pair. "Ah I thought I'd find you both here" she emphasised the word both. "Are you feeling better, Aegon?" Alicent continued, looking at her son. "Much, thanks to Danera" he replied, not making much of an effort to hide his affection for her. "I must speak with you both" the queen began, barely waiting to acknowledge Aegons reply to her question. "There have been rumours, especially recently, as you two have become close" Alicent spoke awkwardly, "the hand and I believe that to quell these rumours, you should be married." Danera using everything in her power to stop the grin coming onto her face, however, there was still a problem. "What about my mothers betrothal?" Danera asked. "I was under the impression you did not care for Lord Stark, princess" the queen replied, slightly confused. "I do not, my queen, but the betrothal, my mother had arranged it" Danera continued. "Lord Stark left for Winterfell some days ago, after hearing that you had returned to Kings Landing. He was offended of course, but the King and I arranged a betrothal to a Lady from Dorne, he was happy with this." This news was music to their ears, they did not have to follow through with a plan that could ruin them both. Their marriage would be genuine, and the rumours put to rest as soon as the royal wedding was complete. "Thank you, mother" Aegon spoke, for once he sounded genuinely grateful for his mothers help. He knew it was mainly for her and his grandfathers own gain, but if it got him what he wanted, he didn't care. He had no interest in being king, once he and Danera were married, they could fly away from their duties, to a place they could finally be themselves. Alicent stood up, "I assume you are both happy with this" she looked expectantly at the pair, who merely nodded. "I will make the necessary arrangements, and we will announce at dinner this evening." The queen left the room, Aegon and Danera looking at eachother with wide grins on their faces. Aegon immediately continued where they left off, pulling Danera onto his lap. Breathless, Danera pulled away "we are actually going to be married" she couldn't believe her own words.
