ᴍᴀʏғɪᴇʟᴅ ᴀɴᴅ ᴀᴍᴏᴜʀ𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍 𝐉𝐔𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐄 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐌𝐀𝐗 arrived at the brunette girl's house, she waved goodbye to Steve before he left and opened the door for the two to enter.
"Hello." Juliette called out and shut the front door behind her.
Max looked around the house, "Where are your parents?" The red head asked as Juliette walked towards the kitchen. The Amour girl didn't take any offense to the question.
"Oh, I live with Doris. She's my foster parent." The girl grabbed two cola's from her fridge and placed them on the counter, seeing the note on where her guardian had gone.
Max froze, her mouth agape. "Shit. I'm sorry.-"
"It's fine." Juliette reassured. "I don't really know who my biological parents are. I've been an orphan since I could remember."
Juliette placed her candy bag on the table, taking out Will's camera and seeing the small damage. "How long have you been here then?" Max opened the cola.
"I moved to Hawkins a while ago but Doris has been fostering me for nearly two years."
The Mayfield girl nodded. Juliette grabbed Max's hand and tugged her to follow her to her room. The house was a bungalow. Small and quant but homely. It was a basic two bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and front room. Juliette was lucky that she had her own room and it was bigger then she excepted.
Opening the door, Lu spoke out. "I'm sorry it's messy. Dustin was over the other day to find a Spider-Man comic to borrow. Then I had to get ready for Halloween and Nancy helped. . ."
Max looked around in awe as she stepped into the Amour girls room. The room was a pale pink and everything was organized except the few clothes on the floor and bed and comics on the chest of drawer. The posters on the wall was aligned in a perfect rectangle. A bookcase was aligned in books organized in author alphabet. It also stored her comic books and basket of cassettes. Beside that was a chest of drawer unit, an old but working record player sat on top with her stack of vinyl's and some rings on the surface. Her bed was on the left with a white bedding.
"This isn't messy. It's. . ."
"Pink." Juliette stated with a wince and pulled her hair back into a ponytail with a scrunchie. "Dory usually had girls when she fostered so it was a neutral colour to them. I didn't want to change it encase." She shrugged and sat on the edge of her bed.
Max called her mom on the phone to say where she was and the two girls ended up sat on the front room couch, empty candy wrappers around them as The Brides of Dracula played on film.
"My heart could not bare the sorrow if we fail again." The man on the tv roared and Juliette jumped in her seat, moving slightly closer to Maxine.
"Oh, my God." She sighed.
"Come. Do not fear me. Everybody has. . ."
Once the film came to a close, the credits rolled and Max was lying on the couch as Juliette sat on the floor.
"I still don't get why they call him zombie boy." Max asked aloud. "I mean, I get it. He got lost in the woods for a week or something, but why is he a 'zombie'? Because everyone thought he was dead?"
Juliette turned around to face Max, resting her chin on her palm that was placed on the sofa. "Yeah. We had a funeral for him." The brunette looked down to the couch, tapping her fingers against it. She didn't really like to think about what it was like to lose one of her best friends.
"After a week?" Max turned on her side to face the girl, elbow propped up.
Juliette nodded, "Another kid drowned at the quarry. We thought it was Will because. . . because it was in the same time frame of decomposition." she winced.
"That's. . ."
"I know it all seems like some movie or book, but it's not. It's public knowledge if you don't believe me."
Max shook her head. "I trust you, I just. . . It seems like a sick joke."
"It's not. You can ask anyone else at school if you need too. But please don't ask Will. Please." Juliette looked to Max with doe eyes and the girl nodded. "I promise. And I'm sorry about my brother earlier. . . He's an ass."
Juliette let out a sigh and smiled to her. "It's fine. No one got hurt. Now, let's see what we can watch."
The two girls watched Cheers that played on the television. Max braided Juliette's hair while the brunette was sitting on the floor. After the Amour girl gave Max some of her clothes to change into for bed.
Juliette always packed light and when she moved to Hawkins, she slowly had to get more clothes as she grew up. Most of her clothes are from thrift shops or pass downs from Nancy. A few t-shirts she has for bed are Jonathans old one Joyce had gave her. She even has a few of Mike and Lucas t-shirts they didn't want anymore. Jules also had a few of Hopper's old flannels to wear.
Max and Juliette was lying next to each other on their backs, eyes scanning on the celling.
"Do you feel like one day everything is gong to be okay? Work out for ourselves?" Max spoke into the dark room.
Juliette turned on her side to face Max. "I hope it does. I really do, but life can be unexpected and that's okay. It's better to not know the events that will unfold one day."
Max turned on her side, face to face with Juliette. "Why are you so nice. You've gone through some shitty stuff and yet you still smile."
Juliette couldn't help but smile, "Sometimes it's easier to smile and pretend everything's okay." She shrugged.
Max grinned to the girl, "You're something else, Juliette Amour."
Juliette was glad her room was dark so the red head couldn't see the blush that grew on Juliette's cheeks. "So are you, Maxine Mayfield."
Max rolled her eyes playfully, hitting the other girls arm slightly. She laughed and hoped that Juliette wouldn't notice the red coting her neck and tip of her ears.
