"The case of Phineas Gage is one of the great medical curiosities of all time. Phineas was a railroad worker in 1848 who had a nightmarish accident. A large iron rod was driven completely through his head."
The projector showed a human skull drawing with a line going through, drawn by Mr. Clarke. "Phineas miraculously survived. He seemed fine. And physically, yes, he was."
Juliette glanced at the book on her desk, wondering where the Henderson boy was since he hadn't shown up yet. An uneasy feeling set in the pit of her stomach. "But his injury resulted in a complete change to his personality."
"So much so that friends that knew him started referring to him as 'No longer Gage.' At the time, this was know as the American Crowbar Case. Although it wasn't a-" Mr. Clarke was cut off as the door slammed open.
Dustin stumbled into the room, out of breath, "I am so sorry, Mr. Clarke. Really, I'm so sorry. Please continue with the class. Don't mind me." Juliette raised a brow as she looked at the flustered Henderson boy, "Really, continue, please. Thanks."
Mr. Clarke raised his eyebrow but continued anyways, "Although it wasn't a crowbar, it was a rod, as I said." Juliette noticed Dustin whisper to Mike, Will and Lucas. She couldn't hear what they were saying but knew that Dustin would tell her after class or pass her a note.
Lu seemed to zone out of the teachers lesson more then she did a moment ago, stuck in her own head until a note was passed to her from the curly head boy.
' AV Club at lunch. I need to tell you all something. Tell Max.'
Juliette furrowed her brows and looked to Dustin who held a thumbs up to her. "Dustin!" The boys attention went to the teacher. "Yes, my lord?"
"Would you care to join the class now?"
"Please, yes."
Juliette looked over her shoulder to the red head girl seated behind her. "Meet me at lunch. AV Club. Dustin has something." Max seemed to be just as confused. Lu shrugged back at the lost expression on the red head who then nodded with a small smile.
"And he began to curse, using terrible words that I don't dare repeat here." Juliette glanced at the bag beside Dustin. A pain shooting through her head, a bad feeling consuming her. Something really didn't feel right.
