POV Alex (10 years later)

Cage, where something or someone gets confined in. No escaping. Only pain. That is all I've known for most of my life. That and pain. Pain is a wonderful thing, the more you are exposed to it, the less it hurt. Of course, it still hurts like hell, but you learn not to wince, make no sounds. You learn to live with the pain because if you don't, you'll die. That is what the Queen of Azgeda teaches. That is was she inflicts. You see I could have stopped all this pain, but I have yet to give in to what she wants. I've gotten close, but I won't give in to the darkness I feel crawling up my spine. Every time I use my powers, I feel myself slipping more into the darkness I was born to be, death, destruction... I'm a flame of death and I can't, I won't let it consume me. The only thing that gives me any calm if Lexa. Remembering my best friend, my Heda, the person that I have loved since I was young. But she never knew. I was only her best friend and that's ok. She forgot about me, she had Costia. I met her, she was my cell mate for a time. I feel bad for Lexa, she lost her love. I was used, tortured me to killing her with my power. Then they cut off her head. Even if I escape this hell I couldn't face her, not after I took the one thing she's ever cared about away. The Queen told me she gave up, I tried not to believe her but after years go by, you begin to believe what she says. She promised me she would always protect me. Promised she would never forget about me. I guess I didn't mean enough to her, she forgot about me so easily, so soon. I'm almost ready to give in. I have no one left, why keep getting tortured? Echo was the only one nice to me, she would clean my wounds, sneak me food. But she left, didn't come back. I don't know what happened to her, she just stopped showing up. Roan was nice too, but he couldn't show it, he was sent to torture me at times before he was banished for trying to help me escape. I'm at my last limb, last bit of hope. I have an escape plan in place for 2 moons. All I have to do is get through two more and I'll be out... If it works.

"Ge up!" (Get up!) a guard yells. I lift my head and mentally prepare myself for what's to come. I get thrown into a fighting pit, no weapons. No way to defend myself but my fists... or what she wants, my powers. I have learned to fight, master my powers. But the more I use them the more the darkness creeps in. I rely on my skill, if I can get their weapon, I use it to kill, if not... well I use my strength. I've only have resorted to using my powers twice. If I do not torture. If I don't, pain. The guard comes in and pushes me up against the wall unchaining me, then dragging me out of my cell. The light blinds my eyes as we walk out. I try to shield them, but he roughly pulls me to the pits. A couple minutes later I get tossed onto the ground and he walks away. The crowed all cheering around me, I look up and see the Queen. Queen Nia. I hate that bitch, really want to roast her ass, I would use my powers for that. She is just sitting on her throne smirking. She holds up her hand and the cheering stops. "Welcome wamplei, welcome our champion, phoenix. Yu laik up gon thri traitors kom the throne. May the best win. Kom the wamplei" (Welcome death, welcome our champion, Phoenix. You are up against three traitors to the throne. May the best win. To the death) She announces and the crowd cheers as I stand up looking over at the three people stood. See they don't get weapons either, but they are given the option. There's some weapons scattered around, but on their side. I have to go through them. I get into a fighting position as they grab weapons turning themselves on me. The first guy lunges sloppily and I dodge to the right grabbing his sword then slicing his back. He yells and I turn quickly to slice his neck as he turns around. One down two to go I think as I ready myself. The next two lunge towards me letting a cry out. I don't know why they do so, it gives them away. It's like saying hey I'm right here trying to kill you, haha. Ya not working for me. I roll of to the side slicing one of their legs and bounce up. One swings his ax at me and I barely dodge it. The other swings his sword and it catches me in the shoulder but I don't wince which seems to shock them. I use that to my advantage and stab the one in the Gus throwing him to the side as the other swings his sword at me again. The swords clash and we fight but it doesn't last long as I find a weakness and strike. Slicing into his neck and watch him drop blood gushing out. I let a breath out dropping the sword and look up to the Queen. She has a scowl, I know what's coming. The guards come and chain me dragging me back to my cell the only sound being the cheers of the people.
