AMITY POV

1st class is always so boring. Everyone is still waking up, including the teacher, so nothing is really happening. I usually know everything, but I don't even know if we are learning anything right now. The teacher is just writing words on the board that look like they have to do with... biology? I don't know. I put my head down in my arms and it all suddenly goes pitch-black.

I wake up to being tapped on the shoulder by someone lightly. I set my head up, open my eyes, yawn, and stretch. I finally look around and notice that the person tapping on my shoulder was Luz. "Hey Luz," I say, my tiredness being clearly heard through my voice. She chuckles, "Hey Amity. Do you want to walk to 2nd period together? I was on my way and saw you asleep in here," Luz says. I stare at her for a while, not knowing what to say. I think I was staring for too long because she began to start fidgeting with her hands. "Oh- Uh. Yeah, sure, of course," why'd I just say 3 different ways to say yes? She laughs again, "Okay, come on," Luz says while picking me up by the shoulder and handing me my stuff.

I put my backpack on and we walk outside the classroom. She randomly grabs my hand while we are walking. My face begins to heat up. I look to the other side that is not facing Luz. I can't let her see my face red, although she has seen it red before, I don't care. It's always embarrassing. 'But wouldn't not facing her be more embarrassing? Ugh now I'm just overdoing it. Just look like a normal person.' I face my head straight forward. I sense Luz's head turning and facing towards me. I look away. "Aw, are you blushing," Luz asks while moving her face closer to mine. I scoot my face back and shake my head no. She laughs. 'Her laugh- It's so..' Never mind.

LUZ POV:

I'm at a lunch table with Willow, Gus, and Amity. Our conversation has gone a lot of ways.. At first we were talking about our assignments, then Gus told us about his new friend, then we started to make fun of his new friend's name, then we started talking about walruses..? I have no idea.

"Mattholomule kinda looks like a Walrus," Willow says. I choke on my chocolate milk, almost spitting it out, but I don't. Amity and Gus are laughing their asses off while banging their hands on the table. This is very amusing.

I notice someone looking at me from a distance, I look over and realize it's Cleo.. I look at her with one eyebrow raised, to show her that I'm confused on why she's looking at me. But she just looks away. 'Weird..' I go back to my conversation with the people at my table.

I'm making my way to Eda's house, and I suddenly feel my phone vibrate. I grab my phone out of my pocket and see that Cleo is calling me. 'Why is Cleo calling me? And right after school?' I decline and text her.

yeah sure

I put my phone back in my pocket. I don't wanna be rude, but Cleo is very clingy. It's in a bad and a good way, like I'm glad she likes me, and yeah I like her too, but it can get annoying sometimes..

I drop my backpack on the floor and fall onto my bed. I open my contacts and call Cleo. "Hey Luz!" "Hi Cleo," I respond back, trying to sound at least a little happy. "So, are you and Amity close? She seems nice," Cleo asks. 'Why is she asking me about Amity..?' "Uh, yeah, me and Amity are close. Why?" "Oh okay! Just wondering," Cleo says.

Our conversation over the phone did not last that long. Maybe a little over 30 minutes. It was really boring. I didn't laugh or smile once, I just sat in bed staring at my ceiling and talked to Cleo. I suddenly feel the urge to text Amity, so I do.
