isabella was given quarter and escorted to a nearby payphone by security guards that were thankfully not calum, and was told that she had two minutes, the alloted time given by her singular quarter, to call her home or family.
she inserted the quarter into the slot, and dialed in the number of her mother's cellphone, she was always on the go.
"isabella?" her mother answered. "i thought that you would be flying over the pacific ocean right now!"
"there's been a small incident." isabella murmured over the line, cautious of her mother, even though she was overseas.
"speak up isabella." her mother hissed over the line. "i hate when you mumble."
"i misplaced my passport. and i tried to fight the security guards to catch my flight home. i have four days in airport prison. and i need have a parent or guardian release me. and of course, i can only do so when i am 18." she let out a sigh after she finished rambling.
"but what about the wedding isabella!" her mother shouted over the payphone. "you cannot miss your own sister's wedding!"
"i was trying to get home!" isabella let out a choked sob, trying to explain herself to her mother. "that's why i tried to push past the guards, to make it home!"
"that's enough isabella!" her mother shouted from the other side of the line. "if you do not attend this wedding, then i will be ashamed of you." isabella let out tears, and tried to sob as quietly as she could. "you must figure out a way to return home immediately! i will not tolerate this!"
"i can't!" isabella cried, only to be cut off by her time ending.
the guard escorted her back to her holding area, where calum sat, clicking a pen.
"why the sad face, doll face?" he asked cheekily.
"let me alone." she huffed.
"isabella." calum tried to sound concerned. "what's wrong?"
"i don't want to talk about it." she crossed her arms over her chest, and looked away, trying not to leak tears from her eyes.
"do you want a hug at least?" calum asked, and isabella responded by quickly burrowing herself into calum's warm hold.
