Miranda had on a pink shirt and black dress pants, she had to do a presentation today about rare cases. She looked in the mirror and fixed her shirt preparing herself for the seminar.

Ben walked pass the Attending's lounge and stopped when he saw Miranda. Dam she was so beautiful he thought as he stared.

Miranda looked up in the mirror and noticed his stare.

"What?" She asked.

"Nothing." Ben smiled still staring as his arms were crossed. Miranda put her head down before looking right back up.

"Then go away." Miranda insisted.

"You look nice." Ben complimented with a smile.

"Go away." Miranda blushed heavily. Ben smiled hard before walking away not before looking back over his shoulder, he couldn't help but to look at her ass in her dress pants. She was blessed.

Miranda smirked and fixed her hair in the mirror, ever since their date three days ago he was all she could think about. She was excited to actually have another date with him which was tomorrow evening. They were doing a casual restaurant this time.

Miranda walked off stage and to the back where her seat was after her presentation. Richard was talking and Miranda couldn't help to turn her neck to look at Ben. She wasn't expecting, but was delighted to find him already staring at her.

Ben smiled and gave her a silent clap causing Miranda to turn back into her seat quickly with a small smile.

The next evening Miranda was bummed out because she had a surgery and she couldn't go out to a restaurant with Ben. He told her not to sweat it and he would just join her in the O.r.

Miranda gowned and gloved. She walked into the O.r. and found Ben talking to the patient.

The patient's heart was racing Miranda noted. "Are you just nervous about the surgery...you're heart is racing." Miranda asked.

" I mean Dr. Bailey does have the power to make anyone tachycardic." Ben said and gave Miranda a wink.

Miranda blushed and turned to the patient once more. "It's okay you are in good hands." Miranda encouraged.

Ben put the oxygen mask over him and counted down until he was sleep.

"10' blade." Miranda called out making the incision in the groin. She began to repair the hernia.
Stitching up the parts that needed to be held together. "Mesh please."

"What does the mesh do?" Ben asked as the surgical nurse gave her some.

"The mesh is just designed to strengthen the weak area of the abdominal wall where the hernia occurred because the hernia stretched out all the skin there." Miranda explained and Ben nodded.

After surgery was over Miranda took her gown and gloves off. "Meet me at the cafeteria after you go check on your patients and do your post ops." Ben told her and Miranda nodded.

Miranda walked around the corner to find Ben standing out side of the door.

He opened the door and she walked inside. She reached for the light by the wall and cut it on, however it only cut on one side of the cafeteria.
"That's enough light." Ben said. "Now we just need food." Ben added looking around, he stopped and looked at the counter.

"What?" Miranda asked noticing his mischievous grin.

Ben then jumped across the counter.
"Benjamin what are you doing?" Miranda gasped. "Get back on this side."

"You want a salad?" he asked her moving to the fridge in the back.

"That is stealing... its cameras. I want you on this side of the cafeteria " Miranda whispered.

"I'm going to leave the money on the register with a note." Ben replied.

Miranda rolled her eyes and looked around combing her hands through her hair.

"Miranda." Ben called out waiting.

"Okay grabbed me the Italian salad with Italian or Balsamic dressing." Miranda called out.

"There you go...what do you want to drink?"

" a water bottle is fine." She responded quickly.

Ben came back out to the front and sat all the things on the counter Miranda grabbed them quickly and watched as he hopped back over the counter.

"Dinner is served." Ben smiled pulling out a chair for Miranda.

Miranda took a seat and Ben sat in front of her. " I keep saying this, You are something else Dr. Warren." She told him truthfully as she shook her head before opening her salad.

"We needed something to eat for our date."

"Oh we are considering this a date." Miranda mused.

"Absolutely. Anytime you and me are together alone, it's a date. So cheers to date number two." Ben said raising his water bottle.

Miranda gave him a toothy grin and touched her water bottle to his.

"Do you have any siblings?" Ben asked and Miranda shook her head.

"My parents had a baby before me. Her name was Danielle but she died from SIDS at two months old which is why my mother was sooooo overprotective of me. I could barely leave the house and if I went outside It was on the porch. My whole life I didn't understand her until about April of my senior year in high school. Do you have siblings?"

"I have an older sister who is kind of estranged. She was a child before my dad met my mom so we don't really see much of her. I talk to her from time the time. She's sweet but we just never had time to develop that connection. I have a brother, who I am very very close to. He is my best friend. I am five years older than him but I tell him everything." Ben stated and Miranda nodded. "That's sweet."

"am I the first date you have ever been on after your separation?" Ben asked.

"You are. All of this is so new to me...speaking of that why are you single?" Miranda questioned curiously. He was handsome, great personality and successful it didn't make sense.

"I mean I have been on a few dates back when I was at Mercy West and I dated but no one was serious. I spent the better part of my mid twenties focusing on my career and now I'm ready but I just don't want to settle for anything. Life is too short and the people we surround ourselves with are really important to our quality of life. So the older I get the more selective I am. "

"And you have selected me."

"Mmm-hmm. You interested me in away that no woman has ever."

"Oh?" Miranda sounded.

"Yeah for starters you are the only woman who has ever spoken to me like that. I couldn't get you out of my head and I still can't. You are just unique."

"Tell me a fun fact about you." Ben said.

"Uh I'm a nerd and I am a science fiction junky. I love love love star wars." Miranda told him and Ben nodded with a smile.

"You know really all the best sci-fi movies came out in the 80s."

"Oh I believe that whole heartily. They had robocop, predator, blade runner, aliens, the terminator, stars wars Episode V. Which was like the best one because Han and Leia's first kiss was featured and Luke sky walker and Darth vader's battle. Dark Vander told Luke that he was his father. Aww it was just great." Miranda cheesed thinking about it.

"I think ET came out around that time to."

"Mmm-hmm 1982." Miranda told him with a bright smile.

"Maybe we should do an 80's sci-fi movie date somewhere down the line."

"Oh gosh I would love that." Miranda marveled.

"Tell me about your son."

"He is 3 and is the light of my life. Honestly I tried for sevens years to get pregnant and it never happened. I was so mad and upset that the stick turned blue during my residency. I thought about terminating the pregnancy and not even telling my husband I was pregnant ever."

"How did you know that you wanted to keep him?"

"It was the craziest thing. I prayed and asked God for a sign. Then I threw my guts up and I thought okay cool hell no I'm not keeping it. That's the sign. After I got myself together. I got back in the bed and cut the TV on. Then this commercial came on advertising a preschool and I watched the woman pick her baby up from school and I smiled. I wanted that and I suddenly knew that I could do it. It was done before. There were plenty of surgeons that were mothers. So I knew I could do it too and I am exceptionally glad that I did. He has made my life better and I don't know what I would do without him.

"I'm glad you have him and that joy. It's like he is your own bundle of sunshine that you get to watch grow."

"Exactly." Miranda smiled brightly.

"How old were you when you had your first celebrity crush, and who was it and if it changed who is it now."

"When I was a young girl it was Hawkeye pierce from the TV show mash. His real name was Alan Alda."

"I know exactly who you are talking about and eww....why?"

"He finished his medical residency in Boston and then was drafted in the military. He proved time and time again that he was an excellent surgeon. I told you I knew I was going to be a surgeon young so I found it sexy."

"And who is it now?" Ben asked.

"Idris Elba."

"Now that makes more sense...I can see that."

"And who were you crushing on?"

"Whitney Houston of course." Ben laughed causing Miranda to laugh as well.

"Tell me a good joke Ben Warren. I wanna see how corny you can be." Miranda giggled.

"Give me a theme." Ben said and Miranda looked up thinking.

"Doctor or medical."

"Okay." Ben agreed clearing his throat.

"Okay so a doctor walked into the patient room with his clipboard and he says. I have some bad news and then some very bad news...the lab called with your test results. They said you only have 24 hours to live. So the patient looked at him and said. 24hours! That's terrible...what's the very bad news? The doctor sighed and shook his head sadly and said I've been trying to reach you for 24 hours."

"Oh my god." Miranda laughed followed by Ben.

"Do another." She encouraged.

"I went to see the doctor today and he said to me, “Don’t eat anything fatty.” I said, “What – no bacon, sausages or burgers or anything?”
He said, “No fatty, just don’t eat anything.”

"Dam." Miranda laughed.

"You tell one. Same category." Ben encouraged.

"Okay let me think."
"I went to the doctor and he said I had acute appendicitis. So, I said compared to who." Miranda said and she bit her lip to hold in her laughter. It wasn't all that funny but she was tickled.

Ben chuckled. "Admit you want to laugh louder than what you just did."

"I did but I held it in." Ben laughed.

"Okay give me a pick up line Ben Warren."

"Okay um....can I take your temperature. You're looking hot." Ben said and winked.

"Why do I think that would have worked for you to really pick up someone."

"Really?"

"Mmm-hmm a doctor saying that you would get someone's number." She laughed.

The two continued to talk before they called it a night. "Thank you for dinner Dr. Warren."

"No problem Miranda, thank you for joining me." Ben smiled at her before taking money out his scrub pocket and using his small note pad to write a note for the cafeteria workers.
