Miranda walked into the house and she let go of Tuck's hand. She bought ice cream for them to eat at home but he fell asleep in the car.
"Come on honey, let get this bloody shirt off and you into the bath." Miranda voiced softly.
She put the ice cream into the freezer and walked into the back with him. Miranda turn the bath water on and filled the tub up a little ways. She helped him wash up and then washed his face making sure the blood from his nose bleed was gone.
Tuck put on his pajamas after he dried off and then brushed his teeth. "Okay you ready for bed."
"Yes." He answered climbing into his bed. Miranda tucked him in and cut the TV on for him.
She walked back out into the kitchen and decided on a bowel of ice cream for herself.
"Hey." Ben greeted when he came into the house and shut the door.
"Hey." Miranda greeted swallowing a spoonful of ice cream.
"What's the matter. I know you had that horrible case today. Did it really get to you?" He asked softly concerned.
Miranda felt her tears pooling before she started crying. "I went to pick Tuck up from the daycare and he was gone." She cried.
"What! Where-
"He's fine...he- she hiccuped as Ben pulled her into his body giving her a tight hug.
"He had a nose bleed and the other worker took him to a nurse...but when I went to get him he was gone. I asked the other attendant and she said she did know where my baby was. She said she had saw him a few mintues ago...I lost it. That is every mother's worst night mare. I thought it came true. You know when I was pregnant I thought about not wanting him and wishing I didn't have him. I thought it was karma catching up with me." Miranda cried harder.
"Shh shh." Ben cooed as he rubbed her back up and down. "Everything's okay, you're okay, he's okay. We're okay. I know today's case really heightened everything."
"It did, I'm glad that young woman is back with her mother and father." Miranda cried wiping her eyes.
"Is there anything I can do for you? You want a bath, a massage, foot rub, to cuddle..anything."
"Yes to all four." She responded sheepishly.
Ben nodded hugging her again. He put away the ice cream while Miranda ate what was left in her bowl.
He then did everything he said he would do for her before holding her while she slept.
(A week later)
"You okay baby?"
"Yeah, I just got off the phone with my parents. They surprised me and bought plane tickets to come into town for easter." Miranda mumbled. She loved her parents but she did not feel like dealing with them for four days. They were going to be intrusive in her and Ben's life and she didn't need all that.
"You don't want them to come?"
"No, not really."
"I have only ever talked to them on the phone and video chat. It would be nice to actually talk to them in person and get to know them, so they can do the same with me."
"Well, that's true...now I have to find something to do with them...you know I'm not big on holidays."
"We could do an Easter egg hunt and grill at the park and invite everyone."
"That's a great idea...actually we could host it at Meredith's house. I'm sure she would say yes."
"Yeah, that would be great. See we wouldn't have this problem if we got a house."
