Ben was up early making a small breakfast, he had plans to take them out for a bigger breakfast after he proposed.
He was nervous and excited. He honestly wanted to propose last night but they got carried away and ended up having sex all night and that was where he left her this morning, in bed naked.
He filled up their glasses for mimosas. "We got one whole day. Tuck is with his dad. I think we should make the most of it. Sargent exhibit at the museum, Pike place, maybe watch the sunset on the water." Ben called out as he put the crossword on top of the tray and lifted it to take to their room. "12 whole hours to get to know the city you have lived in for the past ten years but still have yet to s--
Miranda came around the corner holding her shoe, jacket, and purse. She bent down to slide her foot into her shoe. "No, no, no you are supposed to be naked."
"Okay, well the hospital just called. A-a stomach perf with intestinal obstruction and an enlarged liver. They don't know what causing it." Miranda explained walking in front of him.
She looked down at the tray in his hand and awed it. "Uh, Could be fun...you wanna come?" She questioned with a smile.
Ben looked at the woman and sighed. He guess they could go and solve the mystery and still have time to make it to lunch.
"Fine but we can go eat lunch together." He relented setting the tray down before walking to their room to get changed. He placed her ring box in his bag and the crossword before leaving out.
Ben opened Miranda's car door and he drove them to work. He listened to her talk about what Meredith reported about the man's stomach perf.
After arriving at the hospital, the two went separate ways. Ben called downtown and scheduled lunch reservations at this beautiful restaurant on the harbor.
He met back up with Miranda and joined in as the anesthesiologist on the case.
"The stomach's adhered to the bowel and look at the size of this liver. You know, this is one for the record book. We should be taking pictures." Miranda rambled amazed as she worked across from Meredith.
"Oh, we really should." Meredith agreed excitedly.
"Sure. Let's take a break. Wait for someone to find a camera. We got all the time in the world." Ben suggested clearly agitated.
Miranda looked over at him, eyeing him before speaking. "We do have all the time in the world. Hey, this is my only case today."
"Because it's your day off," Ben stressed.
"I'll have another day off." She replied.
"I made a lunch reservation. I even brought the crossword." He explained.
"We can skip the crossword for one week," Miranda responded rolling her eyes. "Oh, that's not right." She sounded amazed looking at the hardened piece that Meredith pulled out of the man's body. "What in the name of chickens is going on here?"
"Is it chron's disease?" Meredith asked observing it.
"Maybe it's just a mystery...maybe Lee Harvey Oswald's magic bullet's been dancing around in Mr. Steiner's intestines for 50 years. Sometimes we just never figure it out. You marvel at the wonder of it all while you sew 'em up, and you go eat lunch." Ben replied annoyed.
Miranda continued working ignoring Ben's rambles. She wore the man she loved could go on a tangent.
"Is it a metabolic syndrome?"
"Mmm-mm" She answered Meredith staring down at it. "Oh, maybe it's autoimmune." She added.
Ben sighed, he was beginning to get a headache. All he wanted to do was ask the woman to marry him and then toss her on the bed and have his way with her. She was getting on his nerves so much that he knew the sex would be just a little bit better with his frustrations in the mix.
