Callie convinced Miranda to go out to Joe's for some drinks after work with her, Teddy, and Mark. Miranda agreed for once, She needed to get out, especially since Tuck would be going to Tucker tonight and when she was alone at night her mind began to race, she thought about Ben all the time and she wondered what he was doing constantly.
She sometimes wanted to call him just to talk but she didn't want to send mixed signals to him, she broke up with him and it was over.
Miranda met up with her crew in the lobby and she passed all of her case files to Karev, to do post-ops paperwork and sort out all the fistula cases.
They all walked across the street together laughing at the residents and reminiscing on their on-call nights. When they walked in everyone hugged Derek to congratulate him on his grant for his trial research. Miranda was so happy for him. " First round is on me," Miranda called out holding her finger up smiling, and then they looked over at Christina Yang the bartender, leaving everyone confused.
"Why are you behind the bar?" Derek asked.
"Because Owen told me to get a job and now, I am working... What is everyone drinking? " Yang replied as she put the coasters on the table.
After 15 minutes, Owen showed up and began to explain why he told Christina to get a job and he didn't think he would have to specify what kind.
Miranda stared at Yang, she really felt sorry for the girl. She wouldn't tell anyone, but she loved her interns like they were her kids. They were a part of her family along with her co-workers.
Christina brought them all their drinks and they all made a toast to Derek. Miranda took a sip of her drink and her eyes widen, not expecting the drink to be strong as hell...but it was exactly what she needed to loosen up.
"oh my God, this is strong," Callie informed as everyone coughed.
Even though it was strong Miranda enjoyed the burn. " I think it's delicious." She said taking another sip.
After a while, the gang laughed and talked and next to file in was Teddy. Teddy reached for a drink on the table and threw it back, desperately needing a shot. "Hey, hey! That was mine. Now you have to order me another one." Miranda yelled already one to the wind.
"Oh God, that's disgusting" Teddy gaged.
Miranda looked around, she really was the only one enjoying these strong drinks. She listened as Teddy told them about her date she met online and how it didn't go well.
Miranda gave her a pity smile. She never considered finding someone online. She was on to her eighth drink of the night and she swallow that down. It felt good to not think about anything in particular. She was just in a daze.
Callie talked about how eventually they all would be going through their midlife crisis and end up doing the same thing Yang was doing. "Except we will be in our 40s and won't look as cute," Miranda said as she poured half of one of her drinks into another to make it full.
"How many of those have you had?" Mark asked concerned. " Hey, my son is with his father, I am 24 hours child-free and if Christina Yang can tend bar cause she wants to, then I can drink because I want to. Miranda retorted as she pursed her lips taking another gulp.
Callie was upset about Arizona, she didn't know how she would start over and meet somebody knew. Miranda honestly didn’t know how she could start over either.
"I do, you need a sexual palate cleanser," Mark informed.
" A palate cleanser? Are you serious? " Teddy questioned.
