I watch as people dance, drink and enjoy themselves.

Unfortunately I can't do the drinking part.

If Jake decides it's enough then I'll have to drive us back. And he's probably already wasted.

I stroke Maya's hair as she hums something. Ares got her some coloring books and a few pencils so now she draws everything that comes to her mind.

A slow song comes up and Ares appears out of nowhere and crouches down to Maya. "May I have this dance, miss?" He holds out a hand to her and she takes it. Ares picks her up and takes her to the dance floor where the ladies around them drool after him.

Mom comes up to me. "That boy you're with, I don't like him."

"I don't like him either." I mumble.

"You have that man wrapped around your finger." She points to Ares. "There's nothing he wouldn't do for the two of you. So why aren't you with him?"

"I can't just forget what he did. I'm also planning on leaving Jake, and after him I only want to focus on Maya. I'm not ready to be in a relationship."

She rubs a hand on my arms soothingly. "I'm here for you, sweetheart. Whatever you need, I'm only a phone call away."

"I love you mom."

She pats my arm. "I love you too." Then she moves away to get herself a drink.

"Mama!" Maya screams. I turn towards her only to see she's running to me.

I pick her up and kiss her face, leaving a red lipstick mark on her cheek. I try to rub it off, but fail. Suddenly, a paper tissue appears in front of me.

"Here, try this." I hear Ares. I take it from him and wipe my girl's face.

"Mama." She grabs my face between her two little palm and squeeze it together.

"Yes my love?"

"Mama's and papa's dance. You and daddy dance too." She points to couples dancing.

"Baby, I don't think those are-" She cuts me off with puppy eyes.

"Please!" Her bottom lip starts to tremble.

"Okay. Okay" I put her down and Max holds her hand. I look at Ares, but he only offers me a hand. I take it and he leads me to the dance floor.

I wrap my arms around his neck while he wraps his around my waist. We sway slowly from side to side. Each time he takes a breath it tickles my ear.

"You know," I break the silence. "I don't think there is any other kid, so how would she know they're papas and mamas?"

"How are you so sure there aren't any kids?" He mumbles, pulling me closer to him. I tighten my arms around him and he does the same.

"You don't like kids, aside from your own."
