Luckily I wasn't bothered by them too much

Luckily I wasn't bothered by them too much. Angela and Jake were mostly busy with each other so I had time searching through the house. I went into every room possible but couldn't find anything. After almost 3 hours I gave up, knowing they would be back soon.

They came back like an hour after I stopped searching, giggling and their hands looped with each other's. When Angela saw me she made sure I saw as she gave him a kiss on the cheek. I rolled my eyes.

I couldn't care less about him.

I sat on the couch, waiting for Ares to text me back an update on Maya. "Delilah" Jake calls coldly.

"Angela and I are hungry. Order us something will ya?" I raise my eyebrows at them and shake my head.

"No."

"No?" He asks, confused since I never dared disobey him before.

"You heard me. If you two are hungry you can order food from your own money." Which he most likely doesn't have, seeing the amount of beers in the fridge earlier.

He huffs and looks at Angela and I almost laugh. He wants her to pay. I know that look all too well. When she scoffs I want to laugh even more but I hold myself back.

He slumps down on the couch and huffs for half an hour when his mother announces that we are going to a restaurant to eat. I have to drive us there and I roll my eyes mentally.

We get there and Angela sits next to Jake, almost sitting on his lap. I don't bother with them and instead sit across from them. A waiter comes to get our order and I go to check how much money I have so I know what I can afford.

Imagine my surprise when I find a stack of money with a sticky note. One of my daughter's sticky note.

Hope you'll be okay,
~A

There's only one person who buys my daughter sticky notes shape of a unicorn, who's name starts with an A.

I smile to myself and order some chicken with roasted potatoes and veggies along with a sweet tea. Jake glares at me, not expecting me to have money to buy such a meal for myself. Angela huffs next to him because he isn't paying attention to her.

I happily finish my meal while they have to settle for a cheap salad with one piece of plain chicken. I pay for my part of the bill, quickly shutting down Jake's attempt at trying to convince the waiter that I'm covering the entire bill.

On the ride back to his mother's house he starts arguing with me. "Where the fuck did you get that money from, hm? You get money for fucking that asshat now?" His grip tightens around the wheel.

"Jake, calm down" I say, realizing he's speeding and is over the limit.

"Don't you dare tell me what to do, you slut. You're screwing your ex? Should have known you're a whore." The speed increases.

"Jake. Slow the fuck down"

"What the fuck did I tell you about-"

His words gets cut off when he crashes into a truck coming our way from the side. My side takes the impact, Angela screaming in the back along with his mother. I black out immediately after the crash.

Playing with my daughter all day was one of my favorite things

Playing with my daughter all day was one of my favorite things. Although I was worried about Delilah and that asshole I needed to focus on my princess.

But that was a hard task when you get a phone call from the local hospital that the mother of your child is in the ER under surgery after being in a car crash.

My whole body freezes and my daughter notices. "Papa?" Her sweet voice calls out, worried about me. I look at her, masking my face as I pick her up.

"Come on sweetheart, we're going on a little trip." I tell her as I dial the number.

She picks up after the first ring. "Hey honey."

"Ma?" I speak into the phone, panicked a little after I buckled my daughter in the back seat and get into the driver's seat.

She immediately knows something is off. "What happened? Are you and Maya okay?"

I clear my throat. "It's Lilah" I tell her, hearing her suck in a sharp breath. I explain to her the best I can without my daughter understanding anything in the back about how her mommy got into an accident.

I speed to the hospital and a few minutes later Delilah's mother comes through the door too. She comes over to me and hugs both me and her granddaughter, taking Maya from me.

Bless her pure soul, my daughter lights up immediately at the sight of her granny and thinks she's here to play with her. Linda takes her and I sit in the waiting room, my head in my hands.

Finally a doctor comes out and I stand up. He approaches me with his clipboard. "So Ms Fernandez didn't get injured that badly even though she took the impact. We are keeping her overnight for observation but she should be good to go in the morning if everything checks out."

I thank him and rush to the room they're keeping her in. I sigh in relief as soon as I step inside and see her. I sit on the chair next to her bed and take her hand into mine, hating that she has a needle in her arm.

She stirs a little and my hands grips hers tighter. "Delilah?" I ask as I see her eyes fluttering before she opens them after blinking a few.

She turns her head and a lazy smile takes over her face. I furrow my brows because she's never this happy to see me but as soon as she speaks I understand.

"Heyyyy, you looook hansomeee" her words slur.

Great, she's high on meds.
