Interesting meal.

Once everyone was sat at the table -Lilly on your right Emma on your left- Alma gave sign to begin eating. Alma who sat beside Emma was talking with Millard about his fear. She was thoughtful about it and never mentioned what it actually was. You didn't realise you'd been starring until Emma waved a hand in front of your face.

"Earth to Y/N" she said and you looked at her feeling a bit embarrassed.

"Yes?" You ask trying to contain yourself.

"I think Lilly has something on her mind" she says pointing subtly. You look over and Notice Lilly picking at her food and immediately concern rose in your stomach.

"Lilly? Are you alright?" You ask leaning towards her just the slightest bit. Emma had fallen into conversation with Olive and no one else seemed to notice.

"It's just... I don't know it's probably stupid" she says looking down. Right now you wished you could read thoughts!

"Lilly i assure you i wont laugh." You say wanting her to entrust you with whatever it was that was bothering her. She looks to the door and you get up excusing both of you, before walking out of the room. You noticed Alma shoot you a concerned glance but gave her a reassuring smile which seemed to calm her down.

"Now what is bothering you sweetie?" You say sitting on the steps making her feel taller and in control as you always did when something was bothering one of your wards. Just for a little confidence boost.

"I just... i think" she says but groans when she can't get it out.

"Would you like to write it down?" You say and she smiles gratefully.

"Yes please!" She says quickly before you'd handed her the pen and paper you always had on you. She scribbled something on the paper but hesitated to give it to you.

"Promise you won't throw me out" she says and you laugh thinking she was joking. But she wasn't.

"Lilly! I would never! Not even if you'd killed someone!" You say almost offended. She gives you a nervous smile before handing you the note. Before opening it you give her a reassuring smile. When you opened the paper your eyes widened. It was genuinely a very simple sentence, you just hadn't thought it to come from one of your wards. You laughed and she looked a bit panicked yet confused. The paper very simply stated;

I think i like girls...

"Lilly!" You say as you see her panicked expression.

"I'm gay!" You then say and laugh out loud that it was just this. The girls eyes widen before she too burst into laughter.

"So i'm not delusional about you and miss peregrine!" She says catching you by surprise.

"I-"

"Oh no. You two definitely had something" she cuts you of and you just burry your face in your hands.

"YOU STILL DO!" She shouts and you quickly shush her. Both of you laugh and suddenly Emma comes out.

"Are you two ok- what's going on?!" She says a smile appearing on her face.

"Nothing we're coming now" you say wiping away a joyful tear.

When most of the children were nearly finished with their food you were still holding Lillys hand under the table as her nerves were high.

"Y/N" you turn to the voice now facing Alma. Why had everyone grown quiet... she seemed to notice too and both of your cheeks burned up a little. She then looked back at you and said:

"I just- if you would be more comfortable with the guest bedroom-" she says before you cutting her of;

"No!" Idiot! That was a bit too quick. You thought just wanting to dig a hole and hide in it, as everyone was watching the interaction.

"Unless you don't want me to-"

"No!" She now says seeming to notice that that too was a bit to quick. The children fell into talk and the usually composed woman buried her face in her hands trying to calm down her heart rate and blush creeping up her neck. Suddenly you heard someones thoughts. When ever Lilly held someones hand while using her gift that person could her them too. You gathered it was Alma's:

Well that could've gone better. What i would do to that bird.

You choke on the bite of chicken as Lilly spits out her water. You let go of her hand and almost ran out of the room. Everyone had caught onto it and you quickly walked in again.

"Sorry!" You say with a towel in your hand to wipe away the water Lilly had choked on. The girl was shocked and you looked at her apologetic. In fact everyone was.

"Lil-" you said before getting cut of. She looked to Alma and said.

"WHAT!" you could've died right then and there.

"I- what?" She says clearly confused. Yet growing nervous. She took a sip of her water but before she could swallow any of it Lilly said.

"WHY WOULD YOU THINK... THAT!" And Alma remembers her gift. The woman chokes on her water and spits it out standing up abruptly.

"MIS EWANS!" You say your voice louder than you intended. The girls hand shoots to her mouth and she bangs her head on the table. Alma was grabbing onto the table head hanging down in embarrassment and you just stood there.

"Uhm..." Emma said.

"Does anyone care to explain?" She says and Lilly raises her head and opens her mouth to say something.

"NO!"
"NO!"

Alma and you shout in unison, making you look at each other before breaking out laughing. You collapsed on the floor as you couldn't stop laughing and Alma dropped to her knees too.

"We'll just... yeah" Olive says and moves everyone out.

Once we'd gathered ourselves we both got up. An awkward silence filling the room...

-Alma's POV-

An awkward silence filled the room and we were left just looking at each other. But I couldn't take another minute not being close to her and practically lunged at her and placed my mouth on hers. She stumbled back from surprise before kissing me back. I had her pinned to the wall placing kisses down her neck. She let out a sharp breath as i nip at the thin skin before whispering;

"It's movie time"

"I'll get you back for this" she says and pins me to the wall leaving me breathless. She smirks playfully and i can feel the pink tinge my cheeks. She walks of leaving me startled.

"Come on blue bird. It's movie time" she shouts and i can practically hear her smile.

"This woman is gonna be the death of me" i say quietly brushing my outfit off and walking to out of the room.
