Yuuichiro's raven-hair coloured head tilted to the side curiously as he watched the scene unfold before him.
His young 12 year-old emerald eyes held a sort of distant longing in them when he heard the two people murmuring 'I love you' and 'I'll miss you' to each other.
"Whatcha doing?"
Another young voice stage whispered right into Yuu's left ear.
Yuu gave a surprised jolt and almost fell from his precarious position on the large stone wall that surrounded the backyard of the orphanage.
He turned his instant glare onto the angelically featured boy next to him who had a big mischievous smile on his face, as though he had scared Yuu on purpose.
"Mika!" Yuu hissed, "you'll get us caught, it's past curfew!"
Mika sent another grin his way.
"I know that, and clearly you do too, so why are you out here?"
Yuu's face flushed with hidden embarrassment.
He shot a quick glance over at the current orphanage caretaker and who he was pretty sure was her fiancé.
There was no way he wanted Mika to know he'd been watching their loving farewell, or that a secret longing for something stable like that had formed within him.
Despite his attempt at hiding where he'd been looking, Mika seemed to understand immediately why Yuu had been out here.
He glanced down at the embracing couple.
"You were watching Charlotte and Benson weren't you?" Mika inquired knowingly.
Yuu rolled his eyes...of course Mika knew their names.
His memory seemed to live for memorizing names and faces.
Like when Yuu had first come to the orphanage, Mika had been the first to greet him by his full name, long before the caretaker had informed him of what it was.
Yuu ignored Mika's question, and his eyes narrowed in deep thought when he saw the couple kiss again.
"It's nice, isn't it?"
Yuu turned to look at Mika, who immediately locked eyes with Yuu.
"What do you mean?" Yuu asked, furrowing his brows.
Mika nodded at Charlotte and Benson.
"Their love for each other. You can see it too, can't you?"
It wasn't a question.
"Yeah..." Yuu sighed, his eyes taking on the longing look again.
"I wish-" he broke off, his face flushing with embarrassment again. He started to get up, when he felt a warm hand on his arm."Wish what, Yuu-chan?"
Yuu glanced down at Mika's innocent blue eyes, then turned away again, grumbling to hide his inner thoughts.
"You'll think it's stupid, especially coming from a kid like me," he mumbled.
He gasped as he was tugged back down into his former sitting position, and he felt Mika's arms go tightly around him.
"Never!"
Mika declared, his smile making his eyes sparkle more than they already did.
"anything Yuu-chan says is important to me!"
