CHAPTER 10: STAY
EMBER'S POV
Pabagsak na humiga ako sa kama at pagkatapos ay iniharang ko ang braso ko sa mga mata ko para hindi ako masilaw sa liwanag na nagmumula sa ilaw ng hotel room na kinaroroonan namin. I like the sport, but I could live without the travelling.
Narinig kong bumukas ang pintuan. "I asked about the room. As expected wala ng available na kuwarto."
Iginalaw ko ang ulo ko bilang pagtango nang marinig ko ang sinabi ni Stellan pero hindi ako umalis sa pagkakapuwesto ko.
The past few weeks passed by quickly. I trained as hard as before so I know that I'm primed for tomorrow's competition. Bukod sa paghahanda ko sa bahay ni Trace sa Tagaytay ay lumuwas din kami sa Manila bago ang kompetisyon para makapagsanay ako kasama ng coach ko. And now we're here in Medellín, Columbia.
The room was sponsored. Malaki ang lugar at may dalawang double bed na nandito kaya sapat naman ang inilaan na kuwarto para sa amin ng manager ko, at kung sakaling nakasama ang coach ko na si Edric.
The double bed is huge, but it won't be comfortable to sleep in for the two men. Malaking tao si Trace at ganoon din si Stellan. There's a couch in the room, but it's too small for any of them. Kung si Edric sana walang problema. He's smaller than the two of them both in size and height.
I asked for another room weeks before our flight, but the hotel was fully booked. They said that I could keep trying kung sakaling may mag-cancel pero hanggang ngayon na nandito na kami ay wala pa rin talaga.
The event organizers this year booked the majority of the rooms in the hotel we're in for the athletes and their companions. Bukod pa roon ay ang mga iba pang importanteng tao na dadalo para sa gaganapin na competition. Malapit kasi ang hotel na ito sa venue ng event. That's why it wasn't that surprising that there was no room left available.
Pwede namang mag-book kami sa ibang hotel pero hindi ako puwedeng tumuloy doon at si Stellan. The management put us all in one hotel so that we could be easily reached. Hindi rin naman pwedeng si Trace ang lumipat ng hotel dahil siya ang bodyguard ko.
Inalis ko ang kamay ko para tumingin sa dalawang lalaki. "Trace, you can take the other bed. I'll sleep with Stellan."
Tumango-tango si Stellan sa suhestiyon ko. It happened before and we're both used to it.
"No."
Nagpakawala ako ng malalim na hininga sa sagot ni Trace at itinulak ko ang sarili ko para makaupo ako. "Hindi pwedeng kayo ang magkatabi. I don't want to wake up with one of you falling on the floor."
"Then sleep with me."
Flashes of images surged inside my mind, and I'm sure they were far from Trace's innocent suggestion. "I won't be able to sleep and I need to sleep."
