The Attack

"Cap, I have eyes on the duo," Tony said as he flew above James and Natalia, who were walking around near the safe house.

Tony's suit had retro-reflective panels, which made him practically invisible to the eye.

The team watched as James pointed at a nearby tree with beautiful blossoms, and whispered something in Natalia's ear.

"Well, these two are quite sweet together, I must admit," Bruce said.

"Don't worry, Banner. I'll find you a girl," Tony snorted.

"I'm going to shoot," Clint announced, aiming an arrow at Natalia. "I'll take her down first."

The arrow flew at an astonishing speed towards the Black Widow, until......

......the Winter Soldier caught it with his metal hand.

Steve cursed.

James slowly raised his eyes to the tree where the Hawkeye hid.

Natalia drew out her guns, prepared to fight.

Tony shot a bullet at her, which she narrowly missed.

"Наталья! ты в порядке?" (Natalia! Are you alright?) James asked.

"Sò bè, ma avemu un omu invisibile quì," (ik fine, but we have an invisible man here) Natalia replied in Corsican. She deliberately switched languages so that Tony wouldn't be able to translate their conversation in time.

Steve and Natalia charged at each other, fighting back and forth, each showing off impressive skills and training. However, Natalia still gained the upper hand. She used her signature move, using her legs around the Captain's neck to bring him down.

Before she could shoot him, a strong gust of wind blew her away.

Thor appeared, swinging Mjölnir before releasing it in Natalia's direction. The hammer hit the spy square in the chest, crashing her into a random brick wall. She coughed and spluttered, her shoulder wound acting up.

James' head whipped to face her, yelling her name. "Наталья!" He rushed to her, but was stopped by Tony.

"I don't think so, metal man."

"Funny coming from a hideous armour of metal."

"Don't you dare insult my armour."

"Just come over here."

"O...kay...that just sounds really wrong. I have a girlfriend."

"Poor girl."

"Alright, that's it."

Tony charged at James, who blocked his every attack before cutting under and flipping the philanthropist onto his back.

The fight continued on, with Clint emerging from the smoke and using Steve as a support to walk.

Meanwhile, Thor's hammer remained on Natalia's chest.

"Stupid...hammer..." Natalia cursed. "Ga verdomme van me af!" (Get the F off me!) She shouted in Dutch.

Natalia grabbed the hammer and took it off her
chest.

Tony froze. "Did she just......"

"Quiet, metal man! No one shall have Asgard's throne but me!" Thor ordered panickedly.

Natalia took Steve's shocked state as an opportunity to knock him out before heading towards Tony, whose armour's retro-reflective function had shut down.

They fought for several minutes before they had each other in a headlock.

"Clint! The grenade," Tony said.

Clint grabbed the grenade. "You sure?"

"You fool! You'll get hurt too!" Natalia grunted, struggling.

"So be it."

Clint hurled the grenade at them both, ducking for cover as it exploded. A nearby abandoned building collapsed on the duo.

"Наталья!" James shouted her name.

Tony flew out of the debris unharmed.

"Can't catch me, Romanova."

James rushed to the debris, using all his might to dig Natalia out.

"Do we attack now, metal man?" Thor asked.

"Not yet."

Tony turned to look at Clint. "What do you mean?"

Clint remained silent.

James finally pulled Natalia out of the debris. She was awake, but barely. Her eyes were half-lidded and her body was trembling.

"Джеймс," (James) Natalia whispered as she caressed his cheek. "I'm fine. Go."

Clint strode over, aiming a bow at the two.

James growled at him, holding Natalia in his arms, who slipped into unconsciousness.

"I'll give you an offer. Come back with us. We'll spare you."

"Clint! What are you doing? That's not what we were ordered to do!" Tony hollered.

Steve, who had just regained consciousness, raised a hand, cueing Tony to stand down.

"They deserve a second chance. After all, they're being controlled by HYDRA."

James opened his mouth to snap back but was stopped when Natalia mumbled softly, so that only he could here. "Don't. Let them think that. We can escape later."

James closed his mouth and nodded slightly.

"Help her."

"We will," Steve replied.
